Eyes not opening ..getting worried Hi Biskit and her daughters are very well ..I have given her all the hugs from you guys ..thankyou At 17 days they are both putting on weight..the smaller at birth only a steady 7gr per day...the bigger girl around 20 gr per day. I have knicknamed them Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum( fatty) My question is that Dum opened her eyes from day14...the tiny one started to open early morning day 16 and they still today look a little red with the pupil not fully up and showing. can see the top half ....early morning day 19 today still not fully open. She weighed 2.75oz at birth and is now 6.6 oz.All other aspects she is moving well and now putting on more weight...Please tell me she is just slow..am getting very concerned over her. Called the vet who says by tomorrow she will want to see her as it doesnt sound "normal" Please any info from the experts would really be appreciated Regards Janice |
Not all puppies have their eyes opened by day 14. I would not be overly concerned just yet. I have hear that some can take as long as 3 weeks. |
If her eyes have started to open and have not fully opened within a couple days I would take a moist washcloth and gently swab them...They just may have alittle discharge there that is holding them together...If the eyes look swollen or red then you may need some other treatment...Hope all goes well! |
i have had them open at day 19 and as early as day six.:) |

Good luck |
My heart feels broken I decided to take Tweedle Dee to the vet last Saturday...She was diagnosed with fluid on the brain and had not developed properly in the womb. She was put to sleep but is still so in my heart..we had bonded so much over 3 weeks. Biskit seems so confused over her two lost babies and is really watching over her only baby. |
How sad, I'm so sorry for the loss of the little ones. |
So sorry for your loss. :( |
