Mating Yorkies wierd question We have two yorkies. Both of them are identical to what the guidlines are for bredding them size female and male. When yorkies mate do they do it backwards. Our male yorkie lays on his back and the female sits on top facing backwards. Is that right or wrong? |
wow! I am sitting here with my mouth open. I have never heard of that. Are you saying that they TIED like that? or did they start out with him mounting her then when they tied they ended up in this position? Yorkies should never be left to their own means to breed. You should be there holding the female and helping the male for both of their safety. |

I'm not sure if she meant this as a question or is if this is what is actually happened.....or maybe a joke. I would think that this being this person's first post.....it's a question or a joke. |

I hope the OP is a joking with us. Perhaps they were allowed to tie without proper supervision and ended up that way. You should always assist with the breeding to insure their safety! |
:eek::eek::eek::eek: Dare I say? I'm sitting here with my mouth open too! You've got a very lazy male! :p |
I've had Joe try to breed from the wrong end, but never from on bottom. :D I think its a joke, lol. |
I am going to assume that the male mounted your female from behind (some may call it "doggy style") and that this resulted in a "tie" and the male possibly in the attemp to get away from the tie flipped over on his back? When breeding your pair you should always hold the female. Your male and/or female can get seriously injured if you do not keep them contained during the whole process. If you have further questions I'd be happy to help you. |
Well, I certainly hope they were NOT tied in that position!!! My guess/theory would be that the two were "playing" in an attempt to get into a tie position and maybe just fell into the position the OP has described. |
I am sorry, but I had to come back to see if the OP has responded to explain better. But I am still sitting here with my mouth open~ we are going to have to start a "fly catchers club" lol Seriously, I hope the OP comes back to explain |
sounds like what sam will do.. just lay there and let the girl do all the work:) maybe its a young stud who doesnt know what to do.. how in the world can you help them? very interesting subject... do you have to choose the time to do it? or follow them around and wait and watch and then jump in and hold them together? i dont understand why they need help... |
They should be kept seperated, then when it is time (she is ovulating) then you need to put them together with HANDS on supervision. One reason they need help is because the male is generally smaller than the female and he will need help reaching her. Another reason is because once they tie, if the female gets scared, she may try to run and can hurt the male by dragging him |
I still think this is a joke.... OP never responded... |
mating explanation We noticed them doing this. This is before she was in heat. We are not sure if this is the right way or wrong. I know how a dog should mount, I wasn't sure if they had they own little way or what they could be doing. She licks him in the private then he lays down and she gets on him so funny like a human he is even doing the motion with his legs and all. Really wild. They have not inserted at all. Its not a joke. I need to know if this is what they are doing or is their something else they are doing. Confused on it. She still has another week before she is ovulating and yes I will watch and help. But what are they doing is my question. If that is what they are doing how can I change that to the right way. |
It sounds to me that the female is just trying to hump the male after he has rolled over in a submissive position. It will never work that way. How old are these Yorkies and what size are they? It sound like they are young and inexperienced. If the female is in heat she should be separated from the male and they should only be put together when the female is ready to breed and only under close supervision. |
