Looking for info on kennel My wife and I are looking for a small female yorkie. Our little Maggie of 12 years died over the weekend from kidney disease. The folks at Laughlin kennel in Massachusetts appear to have a puppy. Any info bad or good regarding them? Thanks:aimeeyork |
I don't know of them personally, but they sure breed a LOT of types of dogs and sell even MORE types. That tells me they are either 1. a puppymill, 2. a pets store (who buys from puppymills) or 3. a broker (who sells for puppymills) In addition, I see lots of other red flags.... no pictures of parents... nothing saying they breed to standard.... nothing saying they have health checked the parents prior to breeding... nothing saying they are raised indoors... the worst warranty I have seen... BTW.. NO ONE charges extra for a warranty (unless they are a car dealership). I would look elsewhere.. Look on the AKC website at AKC.org and look for a reputable breeder in your area. |
I am so sorry for your recent loss. My sincerest condolences. A quick google search on Laughlin comes up with loads of complaints against this place. Here's one Laughlin Kennel in Oxford, Massachusetts More... laughlin kennel oxford ma - Google Search I would venture to guess Laughlin are brokers...not actually the breeders. Judging from the number of complaints....I'd keep looking. Good luck. |
Ask and you shall receive! Wow, either times are changing or we are very lucky people. So far you people on this site have shot down both Laughlin and Country home kennels, and THANK YOU! We bought our little Maggie from a breeder in Connecticut 12 years ago. We stopped in, saw her, bought her, and she was the most incredible little dog you have ever seen. 4 1/2 lbs, housebroken from day one, never a problem with chewing or anything. Now it appears between the scammers and some of the breeder puppy mills out there, you really have to do your homework just to find a puppy that is healthy let alone cute! Thanks for all your educational help. I can see this is not going to be an easy quick process this time. |
Not sure how you feel about Rescues, but I saw a little girl who just melted my heart.... Her adoption fee is $500 (but she will be spayed and UTD on shots, etc...) She is approx. 2-3 years old and about 4 1/2 lbs. And she has a full tail, which I think is the cutest thing ever (still dreaming of her). Anyway, here is the link: Adopt a Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: Gigi: Petfinder The rescue is Just a Tocuh Rescue and they are in Rhode Island. You'll have to go to their website and fill out an application: Page Title Best Wishes ;) |
