63 days pregnant Hi my Yorkie Missy is 63 days pregnant today. She is sleeping a lot more and seems uncomfortable as she keeps changing position. She hasn't gone off her food although she only ate half her breakfast this morning and she's not panting or breathing heavy. Could this be the start of labour? |
she doesnt sound like she is in labour yet, with a big round belly most dont move around as they used to and getting comfortable I am sure is a task of its own. But at day 63 it should be soon though! Good luck and congrats! |
thanx for your reply. think it will be soon as she keeps going to her whelping box and turning round. |
any puppies yet? |
i gotta get in here i love reading delivery updates!! |
good luck with your whelping.. keep us update.. love the new puppy threads.. anne |
Now on day 66 and still no puppies! Today she hasn't eaten anything and was scratching at the throw/blanket I have on my sofa so maybe todays the day. If she hasn't started by tomorrow I think I'll go and get her checked out, although the puppies are still wriggling around in there I don't want her to go much longer. |
Again, just make sure her whelping box is in a quiet, private area and monitor her behavior closely. You should notice a definitive difference in the way she acts when she begins the early stage of labor. If I recall correctly from your other thread...this is 66 days from her FIRST tie? Still, she may not have taken until one of the following ones. Keep us updated. :) |
I have just spoken with the vet who suggested I wait until Monday and see if she goes over the weekend. She is definately a lot quieter than usual and it is NOT like her to turn her nose up at food. The vet said she might go tonight if she still doesn't eat. She has now taken up residence on one of my sofas and seems quite happy in that particular spot, seems like she's picked her spot!! Totally not interested in the whelping box anymore. |
Good luck, she sounds close to having them. Once they go off the food completely watch her extra carefully! |
we havent hear sence this morning I wonder if she has went into labor? |
Hi there thanks for all your replies. Missy had 1 little boy at 10pm. We thought she might only be having 1 or 2 but it looks like he's a singleton. Missy is a great mum, she freaked a little when he came out and I had to tear the sac and cut the cord but after that she has been amazing. He latched on immediately and hasn't let go since, he squeaks if he loses his nipple!! Both mum and baby are now sound asleep and looking good. |
Oh that is so sweet, I am sure mom will be a good one, those only kids are always spoiled :) Thank you for letting us know. |
Yeah!!! Congrats! You must be so excited! |
CONGRATS on your little boy!!!!!!!!!! melissa |
help!!! It's been 12 hours since the little boy was born and now Missy is panting and digging again. Is this normal? Quick replies please..... |
That does not seem normal if she is having another puppy, but I think it's normal for them to pant some. It takes alot out of the mamas when they are nursing and/or maybe she's a bit warm. Have you taken her temperature? Did you see the placenta when the little boy was born? If she does not seem to be in any distress maybe she was just nesting some to get herself & her pup comfortable. Make sure she is eating and drinking okay and please, let us know how she is doing. Hugs & prayers coming to you and the mama. |

glad to hear all is ok.. oh no those singletons really get to our hearts more so then the larger litter.. just a warning..lol anne |
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! A new baby! How exciting. Has mom stopped nesting? One of my girls panted so much and I worried my vet to death having her checked. After her first litter, I wasn't so concerned cause she did it again and then again. She was fine each litter. My vet recommends a check and frequently a shot of Oxy if I was not absolutely certain that every last bit of placenta and cord were delivered. Let us know how she and her "only child" is doing. Congrats!:) |
Hi everyone, sorry i've taken so long to reply but it's been a bit hectic. Mum and baby, who we've named Solo are doing great. I took Missy to the vets due to the panting and they did an x-ray and there was nothing inside her so she was given the all clear, they weighed Solo and he was 6oz so he's a big boy. Missy is a great mum attending to his every squeak, which is quite often as he always wants to feed, typical boy!! He's getting bigger every day but he's just sooo cute i think i might struggle to let him go. My friend is taking him and she's really excited. Thanks for eveyones comments and advice it's been really good to have people to talk to. I'll definately be staying tuned to this sight. |
I am so glad everything went well for your girl. Congrats on little Solo. (So cute, makes me think of Star Wars.) |
