I am getting a new baby!!! :animal-pa I am getting a new baby!!! I posted this in the contributing members thread... someone mentioned putting on here to see if anyone could help with comments. I am not sure how to do links to the websites... but It is bestofthebreed.net ~ http://bestofthebreed.net <---hope this works! Alfie is going to have a sister... *crossing my fingers*... I found a local.. (or almost local ) breeder who *thinking of the word* not sure how you say it... but her Female Yorkie and a Friends Male Yorkie are mating... so the pups are expected for Christmas... :) I asked a couple questions... I guess this is the females 2nd litter. (not sure if that is good or bad...) And I have to send a deposit for 1st pick this week. Yeah~! :woof: I thought it would be so great for Alfie to have a friend as my husband is going back to work after the holidays and I dont want him to be home all day by himself... :( Not sure if you can post links to other websites on here but if anyone is interested in helping me out with checking out the website to let me know if it sounds like a good breeder please let me know... I really dont know what questions to ask and with Alfie we had a very bad experience. Thanks!!! Please help... Jillian |
Jill her site doesn't mention a health guarantee. |
I just reviewed the emails we went back and forth on as well... nothing mentioned about health guarantee there either. Just "the deposit is non-refundable, because I am holding first pick for you, also we will do all the paper work~ Contract, you will have its vet check papers pure bread papers and the puppy pack, when you pick him or her up." :(I dont want to do anything wrong this time.. the last time I was to quick to purchase from the first place I found and they took me for such a ride.. thank god my Alfie is okay but it could have been bad... Is it advisable to ask for the contract prior to sending the deposit? I am not very worried about first pick and all that... it must be something special as she is concerned about it.. but I dont mind even last pick. I love all Yorkies :D Quote:

A good breeders contract and health guarantee shouldn't be a secret nor held hostage until you give them a deposit. Get that info from her first and then when we review it you can go from there and decide after checking her out more if your comfortable buying from her. |

I sent her an email about the health gaurantee and asking if I can review the contract prior to sending the deposit. I hope I didnt sound like a meanie. I dont think i did, but I feel like a breeder who does this for a living may be a little insulted like I was saying that there may be issues with her by asking... I guess I will see what she thinks by her response. She does sound very nice... and it's probably my lack of knowledge that made it so hard to explain things to me that she might have just left out all that stuff. Oh and I asked about the puppy registration as well... |
If it makes you feel any better....although I knew Reggie's breeder had a health guarantee and contract....I also asked her to email it so I could review it first. She had absolutely no problem with that request. |
You should DEFINATELY ask to review the contract first and don't put a deposit down on a pup until you have had the chance to. I personally would not put a deposit down on a dog before it was even born. You wan't Alphie to have a sister...well what if there are no females born? What if you don't like the looks of the pups that are born? Then you are out of your deposit. |
I noticed that if you click on the Yorkshire Terrier section it says "TEACUP" yorkies due Christmas:thumbdown I know it doesn't always mean that they're only in it for the money, but its usually not a good sign when a breeder refers to "TEACUPS" How much does she want for her pups? It sounds as if she might be breeding for tiny pups if she is already refering to them as such before they are even born. |
Checked out the site...there is very little information there. She is breeding several different breeds--often a bad sign. Also, I assume you must be getting one of the dogs she has adverstised as the "TEACUP CHRISTMAS YORKIES":thumbdown |

The breeder should not be insulted by you asking, personally I would be thrilled. I love working with people who have done their homework and know exactly what they want in a breeder and in their puppy. I have not looked at the link, but I would hesitate to place a deposit on a puppy before it is even born, let alone 8 weeks old. We will not accept deposits on puppies until the new owners have read the contract/guarantee and the puppy has been tested and at least 8 weeks old. That is just the way we do things and I think this way it is fair to the buyer, the breeder and the puppy! |

Asking for all of the information up front is just good business. |

Lil Courtney is one of the Yorkies listed.. she is the mother of the litter (or will be)... from the look of her, I thought at least more than 4 pounds I hope. I know it seems very popular to have very small yorkies but I have come to the realization that I like them BIG.. ;) my Alfie is already 4 pounds and he is 9 weeks..LOL And the reason we picked him was because he was the biggest of his litter. But to answer your question, $1500.00 with the deposit of $500. Papers, First Shots, and a contract. **** I emailed her and she said a year health gaurantee but I must bring the pup to the vet within 3 days, first shots, AKC reg, supplies to start off with......I thought that this was a great deal as Alfie was $950... with nothing/No shots, No supplies, not even papers (the breeder promised the world and I was a sucker)... took Alfie home before getting anything with the breeder saying she will be contacting me within days with everything. Quote:
