Puppy born with no rectom? This is not my pup but I am helping a friend. She had a litter of 2 just over a week ago. Pup one is huge...pup 2 is tiny. She took them to the vet today and the vet dicovered no cleft palet in the little pup but saifd the big pup did not have a rectom? He inserted a thermometer and said she didnt have a rectom and your pup will die. My friend is heartbroke and said after the vet (he is not well liked) inserted it the pup pooped. He said it was just a reaction from him stimulating her. I do not know what to tell her. I suggested a 2nd opinion. She said the pup has a actual butt hole (sorry). She plans to continue stimualating her in hopes she will poo. Any suggestions?? I have know Idea on this. her vet (as I said...is not highly recommended at all) said there is no way to fix this. She will just die. Help? Also the weak pup he told her to give a cc of karo not not feed her for 6 hours??? She did this. he also injected her with fluids. I've given her my advice on the weak girl, but any more would be appreciated as well. Thanks guys!!!! |
My sister in law had a beautiful litter of Persian kittens and she placed one with a lady in KY. The kitten appeared fine etc, grew. The lady called and told my sister in law what the vet said so she brought the kitty back we went to the vet with her and could not believe this was true and the small size made it unrepairable for the kitten. We were with her when they put the lil kitty down. It broke all of our hearts she looked perfect in everyway. SO it is possible that the vet is indeed right! because we thought NO WAY could this be this kitten ate and grew and used the litter box. Just unreal! Deana Prestigeous |

But, if the kitten grew and looked fine, how come the vet put the kitten down?? Was it starting to get sick? |
? I have seen pups born with no anal opening, nothing was formed, not a matter of making a hole..two friends just had pups like this...one noticed at birth and it was put down, the other did not notice for 3 days when it stopped eating and went down..vet said they rarely live more then 3 days...but no rectum puzzles me..what is the difference? If the stool came out, then what is the problem..no opening and no stool comes out and that is a big problem. |
Do a search I think there was a similar thread about a year ago about this. I'm sorry. |

But this other vet just amazes me! How would he take a thermometer and insert it and claim there isn't a rectum? This is a farm vet. he has been talked about on here before by another Michigan YTer. I'd never go to him. I told her she needs to quit going to him. I haven't talked to her yet but her txt said the big girl is ok. I'd be calling him tomorrow for sure and letting him have it. |
If this pup indeed had no rectum, I would like to know where exactly this "vet" inserted a thermometer and how exactly stool came out? Last I checked, the rectum would be the first place I would insert a thermometer on the back side of a dog. |
Do you think he was talking about having no spincter muscles? Lack of spincter muscles will make it impossible for the puppy to control his poo. It will just come out unexpectedly. My friend had a Yorkie born this way an sadly, it had to be put down. |
Here's hoping the puppy will be ok.... I can't see on living witout being able to poo . The toxins will build up in the body and it can't survive. I knew of an infant born this way, but it had to be corrected ASAP... Baby was fine with surgery. :aimeeyork |

Yep.... you take one, bring me the other....... ;) Will be sending prayers for these babies and their human mama!! |
Sending prayer's for those two little ones. How could the vet be so wrong regarding the rectum? Thank heavens that little girl will be ok. Hopefully the second one will be as well. Finger's crossed. |
Well, I would certainly not be going back to see THAT vet! |
Is this who I think it is and if it is why aren't people reporting him? |
Glad to hear that she took them to another vet and that the big one is ok, Keeping them both in my T& P. |

I was so worried when she told me this, she was so upset, and I never dealt with this so I jumped online...asking for help all to find out this guy is on crack! (well you know what I mean) What a wack job. I know why people go there...they think he is cheap. Well you get what you pay for! I doubt I can convince her to turn him in.:thumbdown |
Here is the old thread if anyone is interested: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...o-annoyed.html I really want to report him but one family member still goes there :( and I don't want to upset anyone. If I have to tell the state veterinary board exactly what he has done and list his wrong diagnoses, he will know which animals I am talking about, so I don't know what to do. Why isn't anyone talking about him online by name or reporting him??? |
I was just going to bring up again about the whole put the pregant bitch in a closet and shut the door thing. OMG! :thumbdown It a dirty yucky gross place. |
Well I'm glad she got a second opinion and the pup is okay. Even with a anal splincher they can survive. We had a little boy in our rescue as a pup with this problem and he just celebrated his 1st birthday! |

Since he is a Farm vet...she has no choice as there isn't anyone else for her out there. She said she isn't going to call him either cuz she doesn't want to cause a stink. oye.... |

If your friend is close to St. Clair, Brooks Animal Clinic "might" be a bit better for a farm vet but I can't say for sure. |
I wish your friend good luck in finding a great Vet, they are hard to find..but maybe she will listen to you. Glad the girl is okay. I hope you let that other vet have it!:( |
