Will I die waiting for a response? Re "teacups" I sent a very lengthy email to Dateline NBC requesting that they do a story on the sicko teacup/designer dog industry. I've read so many sad stories here and elsewhere of people who paid thousands and ended up with heartbreak, huge vet bills and standard-sized dogs (when they expected 2 or 3 pounders), I'm just sick of it all. Now I've learned that my next-door neighbor bought for size and ended up with a standard minpin with luxating patellas. I'm hoping that a story like that would drag this evilness into the light and educate the public. But should I not hold my breath? |
I would love to see this brought to the public's attention. Too many people have no clue what is going on and too many dogs, puppies and families are suffering because of it. Hat's off to you for trying to get this out in the open. I really hope they respond to your email. |
I would ADORE a story on this!! I get asked every time I am in public or almost every time...if Nadia is a teacup..GRR.. |
I would love to see a story on this too. |

I hope they do do a story on it!! I just sent a lengthy email to a girl on craigslist boohooing because she adopted a sick dog...lord, I wont get into it here but I get so sick of hearing the same song and dance! |
Unfortunately the same people who are complaining about the problems they now have are alot of the cause of the problem. As a breeder I get emails from prospective buyers all the time who want very small or smaller puppies that will grow into 3# dogs. I do not breed for smaller dogs but occasionally have one and that is what I tell them. Ask me what the first dogs to sell usually are from a litter and I would have to tell you they are the smaller ones. I have a boy from our last litter that I cannot give away right now as he is going to be about 5.5-6#, go figure. Oh and he is not "babydoll" faced. That is the other request. This will continue to be a problem until there is not a market for it. So the same people who are complaining about the sick or unhealthy dogs they are receiving are also the ones who are causing alot of the problem because they are keeping the breeders in business who are breeding for "teacups". As for the designer dogs. Same issue. If there was no market there would be no designer dogs. No one is forcing these people at gunpoint to pay thousands of dollars for what years ago would be termed a mutt. No market = No designer dogs. JMO! |

Hopefully more stories on the dangers of puppy mills, ect will open some people's eyes to the situation, but I still believe many will want what they want because they want it. I sure do hope I am wrong about that though! |

It would be awesome to have a newstory on teacups. I honestly think it will not change many folks minds on the matter.it just wouldnt be enough. I think we need to be bombarded everywhere about the term "teacups" just like we see tons of commercials on gas prices, the war, new diseases..... As long as people are demanding smaller pups, this will continue. I dont see this ever ending. I personally like smaller but not 1 lb and 2 lb fullgrown. My smallest is 3 lbs another is 5 lbs and another 6 lbs. Plus Ive done sooo much research that I have learned to see the Red Flags with Teacups,Micro Minis,Designer breeds... Genie |
