Whelping Box??
 

At what age can you let puppies out of the whelping box? :animal-pa

I let mine out as soon as they start walking. Usually around 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. Have my pups setup in a x-pen but I put a board across one end so mom can escape the pups when she wants to.

I let mine out as soon as they start to try to climb out which is usually 3 weeks approx. I have an x-pen set up by this time and they can run and play in there. I put bumper pads around the inside botom of the x-pen so the puppies can't hurt themselves. Once they are older and start chewing on the bumper pad we remove it. Mom can jump the divider to get away from the pups when she wants too and eat, rest and relax in peace. Everyone seems happy with this set up here.

Thanks that helps....they are two weeks today and all eyes are open and they are starting to roam and walk...well trying to walk lol.

Absolutely!!!! She is so adorable.... She is going to be soooo spoiled.... well she was spoiled before she got her as you know...LOL here are a few up dated photos of her.

Well, you know, if you happen to go through the whelping process again - you know where to reach me:D Since I am getting married in May, Chloe wont be able to play with my Moms dog, Joey, every day anymore!! She just might need a companion while I am at work. (hint hint!).

Absolutely Jenn I will remember you for that. I was thinking that i may let her have one more litter as i found out that my grandfather wanted one. So I think i may do it for him. As i am not breeding for the money. The only thing i charge for is the stud fee, the shots, and any other expenses that occur while she is pregnant.... i then divide that up into how many puppies she has.....The people that get my little darlings get out cheap for a great little companion. So would Chloe want a brother or sister .... if we do this process. I want to put you down so you get your choice first if we get lucky with the same way we did this time around.

Thank you all for the complements. Also i had a question that maybe someone could help me with. I heard there was way to tell by color of eyes if they would be silky or cottony is this true if so what colors means what? Just wondering what they four will become. As mom is more cottony but feels a little silky and dad was silky. Thanks!

Oh you are so sweet! I am at work and that just put a permanent smile on my face! Well, hmmm. I am thinking a boy. Id have to check with the big guy because he loves his little "girl dog" (as he calls her). That would be great. I was actually planning on charging the same way you do for Chloes pups too - just to cover her pregnancy costs, shots, etc. Oh! I am excited.

Those little ones are so freakin adorable. You also have to keep us posted about the beds. (and I say "us" because I remember many people talking about Bailey's bed). We are all anticipating those beds going on the "market."

mine stay in until they are able to crawl out. UNLESS, I see that one is always out curled up with mama and the others are in the box away from her. At that point to make sure they all get to nurse, I move the whelping box out and make mama's space a little smaller so she can't get completely away from them. This is the stage where you really have to notice how much they are eating because some will be able to "catch' mama while the smaller, short legged ones won't.

Well, secret is out they are going up soon.... im in the process of making a website to show them and am looking for YT vendors to allow me to advertise and link their website as to get sales for themselves through my site. But i am willing to start making those beds without going through the website. If anyone is interested i just need to know what colors they want and what design they want. (How they want it to look to fit their little ones) Also the measurements into what they want. Yeah just let me know which you all prefer. As far as the charge i only think its fair you know i love the breed so any joy i can bring someone else makes me happy as i know i wanted a yorkie when i was younger and they were just way to expensive....LOL! We should plan a play date somewhere in between us sometime for our dogs to meet. Oh i meant to ask you i need info about chloe so that she get get a little something from her new friends here. Favorite colors, toys, clothes, any thing you can tell me it will help with her little surprise! Hehehe:animal-pa

P.S. I mean it when i say if we go through this again you are getting your pick... so im sorry if you have to get in your car and drive 1 1/2 to 2 hours to come pick your little one out....LOL

She looks like she is going to turn into a precious little princess!
I let Lucky out of the whelp box at 3 weeks.he's now in an Xpen around 2'ftX4'ft he has his fleece bed in there and it still has the heatpad set on low and a large washable pee pad and toys.He turns 5 weeks old on Monday! Time flies by!
I guess since you have several in your litter they may start to feel crowded sooner :)

Aww dont feel bad.... I still havent gotten your gift out just as i was telling Jenn i wanted to get her a little something sent out...>LOL Miss Bailey is now a whopping 1 lb. 1 oz. she is a big girl they believe she will slow down since she is growing fast now. She is so precious and she makes my day brighter everyday. Just as her mommy Peyton Savannah does. Genie i need the same info i posted to Jenn about your little man.... what colors, what he likes in toys etc. also if you and Jenn could PM me with your shipping information that would be great!

aww well thank u very much! Lucky was gaining a whole ounce per day and I thought he'd be like 2.5 lbs now lol Well he's slowed down a lot. He was weighing close to 1.5 lbs onJuly 31st so he's only gained about 1-2 oz since then!
Well he turns 5 wks on Monday and is weighing 1 lb and 9 oz ! so basically 1.5 lbs . give or take an ounce :) His weight goes down then back up now since he's getting weaned. Some nights he only gets fed by me and last night Lola let him feed about 2 times so I was very happy about that! But I know it will soon be over cause I noticed his little canines showing through the gums already!
