I do not know about Magnum Yorkies, but if the Fantasy Yorkies are the ones from Lebenon, MO they have beautiful yorkies- and are sold really fast!! I would love to have one of the Fantasy Yorkies! If it her daughter- I would say they would be really nice yorkies- But I don't know of them!! |
Magnum Yorkies I have a Magnum Yorkie. Teresa is great. Very knowledgable and really cares about her puppies. I visited her home to pick up my boy and it was clean and it did not appear to me that she was mass producing puppies. Yorkies are the only breed she has. Now as far as quality, I am not up on the breed standard, but I do know that my boy is healthy with no problems. Our vet raved about how healthy he was when we got him. He is a "healthy" size---about 4 1/2 lbs now and he is 11 mos old--so I assume that he is full grown now. If you have any additional questions, let me know. |
That is where my puppy is coming from. Teresa has been very helpful, kind, and professional to me so far. I will update once my little girl gets here! My girl looks gorgeous in her pictures!! I don't know how to upload them onto the boards here or I already would have!! |
My puppy Maddie is home! She came from Teresa, and I have no complaints. She has been VERY helpful, and answers any questions I may have. Puppy Maddie came in a very nice, cute crate, freshly groomed, with all her paperwork in order. So far I am very satisfied! I still don't know how to upload pictures! |

I looked at her website and didnt see 14 moms?? She has 7 with 3 future moms. regardless of the amount of adults she has, she only has like 3 puppies available and a waiting list. She appears to be ethical on her website. keeps pups past 12 weeks, pups have limited registrations, invites people to visit, heath guarantee.....All of these seem to be on the up & up to me. If she was spitting out puppies left and right, there obviously would be more pups and no waiting list. I think those who jump conclusions and finger point need to get their facts straight. |

Okay I counted... so it will be 10 and not 14. That is still a lot IMO, but I'm not a reputable breeder just a good observer. No jumping to conclusions there and that is a fact. And she does appear to be ethical and do good things reading her site. But anyone can say they have a waiting list too. Perhaps someone who has had experience with her will tune in and give her a great review :) Well two have so maybe there is more. |

If yorkies are this lady's passion and her life, can contribute positively to the yorkie breed, and does everything an ethical and reputable breeder should do-then who are you to say how many dogs she can or cannot have???? I've seen YTers have 5 yorkies. She has 7 breeding females at this time...you dont know if she intends on retiring any of her females before she breeds the 3 futures. Her website doesnt state what her intentions are. She doesnt have 20, 30 or 50 breeding females.....she's got 7. I'd give this breeder the benefit of the doubt and pay a visit if your in the market for a puppy. If I were looking for a yorkie--I'd check with Magnum yorkies or fantasy yorkies for that matter. I have one of Fantasy's yorkies. I'm very very pleased and would definately go back if I were looking for another. Mine is healthy, happy, social, smart, and a great representation of the breed standard. I can vouch for Fantasy- they do a great job raising yorkies. |

Well I can't understand your problem with my previous post because I didn't say nothing bad about her  But since you asked 2 good reviews and 0 negatives means NOTHING no matter what the since date is. Anyone can delete negatives off their website and 2 good reviews since 2008 with 7 females is pretty weak in my mind. BUT this is just my opinion. I can't judge her. I just stated that having 7 soon to be 10 females for breeding seemed like a lot to me. Perhaps she is going to retire some of the olders ones. But I also stated that I AM NOT a reputable breeder (and will never breed) So perhaps some breeders do have more than 4 or 5 females. I also stated that 2 members had tuned in and said great things about her. So let it go. |

Its just that your suspicions are pointing negatives in this breeders direction as I bolded above and 1 negative remark can wipe out a breeder on YT. You did say some good things, but the negatives were in the same paragraphs. We love yorkies and look out for their best interest. I understand why people are suspicous of breeders, but also can be overly suspicious and damage a breeders reputation. I just dont think this breeder deserves suspicious vibes. I dont want anyone reading this thinking shes a puppy mill because somone thinks she has too many breeding females...that isnt fair to her. Anyone looking to get a puppy through Magnum, accept her invitation to visit her home, as well as contact the references she has on her website, check the breeder suspension list, and draw your own conclusions--then please come back here to YT and post about your experience. |

My Maddie came from Teresa at Magnum and she was WONDERFUL to deal with!! Maddie is VERY healthy and happy and gorgeous!! Maddie's picture is my avatar. I would definately buy another puppy from her..Maddie was shipped to me, and arrived in a really cute crate, all paperwork attached, and perfectly groomed. She gets 5 stars from me! |

ANother question...how many bitches are an exceptable number for a breeder to own? |
Quote:
Anyone owning more then 3 intacted females is required to register through the USDA. If you show your allowed 10. I have known several who have bought dogs from Shirley and I have heard only good things about her and she only breeds Yorkies. I have never seen one complaint or bad review against her. I think most tend to go over board with lables when they see someone is USDA. It's very unfair to lump all breeders who are USDA together because of the bad breeders. We have a very well thought of show breeder on this forum who is also USDA registered. I think it’s very important before one starts throwing out accusation about a breeder one needs to get facts straight. I also detest seeing people lump all Missouri breeders together as being puppy mills breeders because of Missouri’s reputation. As in all states there are good and bad breeders. |

Who is the show breeder that you said is well thought of? IMO I think it depends on if you are selling commercial or not. We each have our own ideas of ethics. It's okay to be real skeptic & ask questions from people when you want something from them. Getting a puppy from the right breeder is how people get the right companion. Too often times people sweep things under the rug for whatever reason. This results in heartache and financial hardship that wasn't necessary. Animal Folks Minnesota |

Any female 6 months of age (not spayed) counts as an intacted female. |

Wow you're kind of late huh? Who's gossiping? I can't be critical? Nope, I will never breed and as Yorkie owner and lover I have the right to be very critical and demand breeders to uphold ethics and breed for the betterment of the Yorkshire Terrier. There are to many below standard breeders out there that think they have it going on just because they have been doing it for years. I see Yorkies that are the results from poor breeding stock EVERYDAY  Even worse is the fact that too many Yorkie purchasers don't even know what a QUALITY Yorkshire Terrier looks and acts like. Thank goodness I am not one of them and since I pay very close attention to details I will NEVER be! There are many Yorkie owners like me who can't stand the over breeding problems or seeing so many owners breeding their low quality pups with an entitlement attitude and reasons that are selfish and bothersome. No...Breeding is NOT for the weak of heart, but by looking at all the years of errors in bogus non-reputable breeding practices it has become for the heartless when it comes to upholding high standards for the Yorkshire Terrier breed. |
Oh, and my comment above wasn't to refer to the breeder in this thread. It is to say that people who want the BEST for the Yorkshire Terrier breed have the right to investigate ANYONE who is calling themselves a breeder. |

If the show breeder want to state who they are that is their business. You seem to think that only commerical breeders own kennels, there are also big name show breeders who also owns kennels. The Point is that anyone who buy from a home breeder or a kennel needs to do their homework to see how the dogs are treated and cared for. Like I said there are good and bad breeders and just because someone is registered with USDA does not mean they are bad breeders. |
