puppy bath? hey everyone...I wanted to know what is a good way to "bathe" the puppies? With a washclothe? Any suggestions? |
How old are the puppies? Genie |
8 weeks tomorrow, born 6/7 |
If they aren't "stinky" I would wait till they are older, say around three to four months old. Then use a tiny washcloth for the face area and just a little shampoo in your palm and rub your hands together then just rub downward on the puppy. You can even dilute the shampoo way down, because they don't need a lot of suds to get clean. |
but they are kind of stinky so what should we do? :) |
At 8 weeks ,I would dilute the puppy shampoo and give them each a bath in the sink. You don't have to have them standing under the running warm water... Just water their face and back area and soap.If some water gets on the rest of the body thats ok but don't really soak them in a bath. The main concern is that they get chilly really fast. So I would only do this to one puppy at a time.Dry him/her well and wrap him/her in a warm dry towel. You may want to have a dryer on medium to low setting and sort of wipe them with the same towel.Just keep some of the towel over them at the same time... Does that make sense? I brought an 8 week "stinky puppy" home and I bathed her this way. It took about 5 minutes to get her completely dry . I snuggled with her until she fell asleep in my arms and I put her down in her bed to continue her nap :) I dont know how many are in your litter but you may need an extra set of hands to help ! I wash my pups from the neck down in the sink under the running water. I use a washcloth on the face... I am basically trying to avoid getting water in their ears. I do "butt washes" more often... the more hair they have the more gets stuck down there. No reason not to wash a stinky pup... just watch that you don't get water in the ears/nose/mouth. Good luck! ;) |
