Woogie Man | 07-22-2008 06:11 PM | How Long Should I Wait?? Our Scarlett went into heat back in April. She wasn't bred but had a false pregnancy. If she would have been pregnant, she would have had her babies around the end of June. So, here it is 3 weeks into July and she still has milk. From what I've read, in most cases you should just wait it out with them to dry up. Also, I'm aware there is a risk of mastitis so I'm keeping an eye out for that. I've read that the shot the vet can give them to dry their milk can have risks. My question is...how long should I wait before taking her to the vet? She seems completely fine except for having milk. Her teats are a bit swollen but not engorged. How long can I expect her to have milk? This is my first experience with a false pregnancy so I'm not really sure on what to expect and would appreciate any advice. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :) |
