i have a contract question how come most of the contact say this For the protection of the Purchaser and Seller, we require that you have your puppy examined by a licensed Veterinarian within 48 hrs of purchase. Failure to have Puppy examined within 48 hrs VOIDS this warranty. Any vaccinations given before the next due date VOIDS this warranty. If this puppy is found to have a health problem at the 48 hour exam and is unable to be medically treated, a replacement puppy of equal value will be given or you will be given a refund, this will be determined by Seller shouldnt the puppy be healthly if your buying from a good breeder the puppy should have had an exam before leaving what health problems only happen within 48 hours ?? |
contract It is a good idea not to take the breeders vets word that all is well...have an unbiased vet check the pup. Vets can overlook a problem, forget to check for ear mites or look for herniasnetc..vets are human! Second opinions are smart..when my vet says all is well and your vet agrees, then I am more comfortable then when my vet has been the only one checking out the pup.. |
also it is possible for a pup to pick up diseases from exposure to other dogs/feces/etc very quickly, so the breeder doesn't want responsibility for something the pup may have picked up after it left their care. |
thanks for both responses !!!:D |
You're welcome. Should have mentioned that mine doesn't read that way at all. I allow for a 7 day full refund for any reason(barring injury), not 48 hrs, not a replacement dog at my choice. 1yr on congenital defects(covered to the cost of the pup) and lifetime return. |

Just my very humble opinion. |
contract I never liked the idea of insisting on the pup being returned if there was a problem. It should be the pet owners decision..refund or new puppy. I have a rule...you must have a vet appointment when the pup is picked up, the pup goes from my house to the new owners vet before the day is over. |

The immediate vet appt. is a good idea, I just expect an appt. within the first few days. |
I give 5 days for a vet appointment to make sure they are satisfied with the health of the puppy. 10 day guarantee on infectious disease (they can either return the pup for a full refund or we pay ALL VET COSTS to treat the infectious disease) and we also give a 1 year on all hereditary defects or either full refund OR pick of the next litter (their choice and puppy can be worth less equal or greater). In any case we pay all vet bills. (so if the puppy where to have a shunt we would pay for the surgery AND refund the money. The owner can keep the puppy if he/she wants even after refund. Although we have never had a shunt case YET. Lifetime return if they can't care for the dog. |
Very Interesting info. Good to know. :) |
