Cleo beginning labour? 1 Attachment(s) Hey there everyone! Its day 58, I was going to start taking temperatures but, my thermometer I got in my whelping kit is broken!!! Anyway, I have it arranged that ill be off work, but im in tomorrow. I'm starting to worry as Cleo has started refusing food, digging a lot and trying to get behind my boyfriends couch, she NEVER does this. I guess she is finding a spot to give birth. Her milk isn't in yet, but her nipples are swollen and there is a bit more "boob tissue" around them.We are here at his house so he can watch her whilst I am at work. The problem is... he wouldnt know what to do! I also dont want to miss anything. There is no way I can stay off tomorrow as there is only one member of staff (me) in the lab on a Sunday. Do you think it sounds like labour is upon us? Do you think it could possibly be a few days until D day? I really hope not, I think she would be a lot more comfortable in her own home, in her whelping pen. I have a pop up tent/den in my carboot just incase which is fleece lined and warm, and it seems to be handy. I put it up and she went straight in and started digging.# I had her out for a walk there and she went to poop, and strained and only passed something the size of a peanut. Otherwise she is acting distant and funny. Pic is of Cleo on day 40 I have no more recent ones on this PC. She is a lot bigger now. How many pups do you predict? She is due on Thursday. Pray with me that she holds out a couple of days! :ghug: |
To me it sounds like she is in the begining of labor, could be wrong, as I have been on watch for Bridget for 4 days, but she is showing many of the signs... have you seen a mucus plug, or is she panting??? Are contractions visable at all?? Good Luck, and I wish you well, prhaps we will have puppies today after all... :) |
Hi there, thanks for replying! She isn't panting, just digging... A LOT!!!! There is no mucus plug as of yet, and no discharge. Not eaten a thing since yesterday around 5pm and its now midnight the following night! (I'm in the UK) I have been watching your girls progress. Boy is she HUGEEEEEEE!!!! Have a safe whelp yourself! |
Yeah she is huge.:D I would watch her close as she is showing signs my Bridget is not...lol:rolleyes:. Make sure she stays hydrated, and try offering her other things to encouage her to eat (bridget loves straight chicken right now). Perhaps there is just so much baby in there she can't eat. I know Bridget in the last 3 weeks has been uber picky... Try to rest but check her every hour or so, just to make sure she is not pushing babies. Good luck and keep us posted |
Poor mama... she sounds very uncomfortable, though pretty focused on her task at hand! Sending prayers your way that all goes well... will be checking in for baby updates!! :) |
is there anyway that you can go to a Walgreens or any 24 hr store that you can get a thermometer at? This way if you take her temp and you see it is dropping then you know to expect the puppies within 24 hrs. She looks pretty big at day 40. Is this her first litter? First litters are usually 2-4 pups. But ya never know I have heard of large first litters. Genie,Cookie,Lola & Angel |
I had a female in her first litter went on day 59. I was on the computer and mhy hubby sitting watching tv in our small place in florida.. so neither was far from her.. then all of a sudden we hear a baby crying.. she had not been showing any signs at all.. and we both ran at the same time.. so it is quite possible she could go on day 59.. you need to call some one and see if some one would do your shift for you..anne |
She stayed at my other halfs whilst I went to work... She went into full labour... TYPICAL!!! I rushed back. She had the wee boy weighing 6oz at 13:30, its now 15:30 and theres been nothing else. I suspect it was a singleton litter. No pushign or contractions or anything since. She is laying quite happily licking him. I cant feel anything else inside her either. It's odd because I was positive there was 2. There was a lot of movement right across her whole abdomen. Day 59, who would have thought! Think its all over? :aimeeyork |
Congrats on your little singleton!! Glad both are mom and baby are doing well... I'll keep an eye out for updates, just in case you have yet another little sneaky pup waiting to join you!! ;) |
Congratulations On Your New Pup! Congratulations! Boy, she sure looked like she was carrying more than one! Did any more come out since your last post? My little Lily is expecting in one week, June 29th, 2008. She is way smaller than your photo that you posted on day 40 too! Again, Congratulations! |
Its been 3 hours and nothing. She just had some runs that were really dark. Not passed a single thing, no contractions, nothing. I am really shocked that she only had one.... Confused I really am. Oh well! :) He will be a roly poly soon!! All that milk!:) I wish Lily all the best, my Papillon is called Lily too...lovely name ;) |
Congratulations on your little guy! Looking forward to seeing photos! :aimeeyork |

4 Attachment(s) He is loving it for sure! Cleo was acting strange earlier, carrying a teddy about and whining, I just couldnt figure her out. Think its because its her first ever litter, she panics when he cries and comes to me for reassurance. He is a right wee fatty already. Gained around 75g since lastnight. As for Cleo, she won't eat by herself, I handfeed her whilst Alfie is having a suckle! Its ridiculous to watch ahha. Here is Alfie earlier today... Look at that beer belly !!! :O Looking to mum for reassurance Cleo wears him like a scarf when they sleep, its cute!:) Having yet ANOTHER drink! |
Aww, he is adorable!! Congrats on the new arrival!! Destiny had her pups on day 58. She showed no signs, no digging or panting. She was on my lap and all the sudden she yelped. So I put her in her box and within 5 minutes she had her pups. |
