"Golden" Yorkies How is a full blooded Yorkie "golden"? The dam is golden and the male is tan/black but the puppies are more golden (or really dark brown since they're still really young). The puppies and parents are registered with AKC but in the standard it says that Quote:
I always thought Yorkies were tan/black tab/blue. |

It's the result of a recessive gene causing the color variant. Same applies to chocolate yorkies. The colors are not the standard set by AKC...so they can't be shown but are still allowed to be registered if their sire and dam were registered AKC. There are a couple of people here who own a golden yorkie or chocolate. |
