Looking for Small Male for Breeding I am looking for to breed to my female. My lil Jazzi weighs about 2 lbs and is 9 mos old. Also wondering if I should wait and breed her until her second heat cycle or if it is ok to breed her on her first? This will be my first experiance with breeding. Thanks for any help and advice you guys can give me. :aimeeyork |
Usually breeding is done on the second heat cycle...however with her weight being 2 pounds at 9 months...I doubt she gets big enough to breed safely. |
So how big does she have to be to breed safely? I dont want to do anything to put her in any kind of danger! |
At the minimum 5 pounds. She'd be happy just to remain the spoiled diva she probably already is. I'd have her spayed... |
reading some other posts about breeding, someone has a 3lb yorkie and they were very concerned because she was so little...They advised her to talk to her vet or experienced breeders before she bred...Isn't there a chance she could die giving birth at such a small size??? Why would you risk that? Especially if you're not experienced? I hope you make the right decision , for the little girl !!!!! |
Hi...she is a tiny one...so is my KiKi @ 2 1/2 lbs at 7 months and I have had many people ask me to breed her...I have no intention of breeding her but I did ask my vet how risky it would be (just out of curiousity) and he told me it would be very dangerous that more than likely she would have to have a c-section b/c of her size and that she would be at high risk of death. He highly recommended NOT to breed her. Just thought I would pass that on to you..... |
Thank you soooo much for the advice. I would NEVER do anything to risk loosing her. I would be lost without her, she is my little velcro pup!!! LOL I will quit looking for a mate for her and she will have to remain the queen bee that she is! Thanks again for all your help!!! |
My Chelsey is 4.2 LBS at at 14 months I got her fixed as our vet said she was not build for breeding. I would never have taken the risk. Our Mandy was 4.5 lbs when I bred her and she breezed thru two litters. prior to getting fixed. Under 4 LBS is so dangerious. Some dogs shouldn't breed even at 5 LBS body size and build can also be a factor. |
Well, she is just beautiful! Have fun spoiling her! |
What a great decision!!! You're a great mommy ! Enjoy each :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:other !!! |
wow you little girl won't even reach the right size for breeding..i hope you reconsider so you can save her little life... |
I'm glad you're putting your girl first! You are a great mommy! Enjoy her! |
