urgent help 3week old puppy who is constipated please help my 3week old puppy is constipated is there anything i can do for him. ive phoned vets still waiting for them to get back to me that was a while ago now they keep saying he is busy at present is there any one that can help me please |
Are you sure he's constipated? He may just have an irritated bowel. Make sure that there is no obstruction at the anus such as matted hair or old poo. Take a thermometer that is well lubricated and gently insert it about 1/2 inch. Do not force if there is resistance. If there is no poo on the thermometer most likely puppy is just irritated. If he is constipated the thermometer can loosen things up and stimulate a bowel movement. |
hes just been trying to poo his stomach felt hard ive been massaging it to see if that would help ive checked his bum and its clean someone advised to give him a little liquid parafin but i dont no if i should |
You can give him a little karo (corn syrup) and water with a syringe or dropper. Are you sure it is constipation? Sometimes when puppies have coccidia they will strain and you usually see poop stains on the bedding. Puppies that are three weeks old usually do not get constipated. The momma the should be licking them and cleaning up the poop. |
if youre still having issues, use 1/2 cc of warm water, insert it into his bum...should see results about 10 mins, if not do it again. gl hope this helps |
How about a little pumpkin. |

pumpkin is for when they have loose stools. Pumpkin firms stools up. |

Kathy pumpkin can help with diarrhea as well as constipation, but as I said I wouldnt use it on such a young pup...the warm water enema is always the best and the most natural.... |
WoW! I learned my thing today (You should learn something everyday). I have always used it just for runny stools. Thanks! |
OP: How did this all turn out??? |
