I have puppy questions
 
Kallie's pups will be 3 wks tomorrow... When can I take the heating pad away? When will they start walking instead of slithering? When do I try them on solid food and how? All mine eat Chicken Soup for the Puppy lovers soul.. When will they start playing with us humans? Can I hold them alot? When can I introduce our new guy Percy, 3 months old, to the new litter and Kallie? When do they need another vet check up? Why do you not start shots until 8 wks? Can they go outside at all when they do start to run? Does anyone have a spare million dollars laying around??:D

Okay, I will try to help. Mine are not on a heating pad at three weeks old. In fact, usually by the time mine are three weeks, they are toddling around a little in the whelping box. I do not start mine on solid food until they get old enough to get in mama's food that I keep down. I usually start with a gruel at about five weeks. that is wet puppy food, puppy supplement, a little Gerber baby rice cereal and a dab of Karo syrup. make it real souply then daily progress to more solid. or instead of wet, you can grind up the puppy kibble instead. yes, you can hold your puppy but at this stage, they need their mother more. Do not let other humans (or dogs) around them until they have had their puppy shots. I would wait until time for the shot to take them to the vet. Some people do wait until 8-9 weeks to start them. I have been doing mine at six weeks but am going to wait the next time per new research. no, do not let them go outside until shots are given. The ground and grass carries too much disease and NO< I DON'T HAVE A MILLION DOLLARS LAYING AROUND:D

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: This is how I also do it. With one exception I grind up kibble in my coffee grinder and use it instead of wet food. Mine are 3 weeks old as of last saturday and they are starting to walk and try to climb out of the whelping box, so we have moved them to the x-pen by itself.

I just wanna say....I love to see puppies eat those first few meals from a bowl or plate...they get as much ON them as IN them. LOL

I was waiting to read that LAST answer and was hoping it was different!
