Another Sad Story to share So my girl friend went and looked at a lil yorkie female the otherday, she wanted me to come along, so I did, but it didn't matter. I tried to tell her not to buy. Walked into this womans house and 1st reg flag, the place reeked! 2nd reg flag, heard TONS of dogs barking outside 3rd red flag, puppy was not playful 4th Mom was huge and long, looked like she was a yorkie-weiner dog. and I can sit here and name more and more but why? She ended up buying, I tried and tried to tell her not to. I said just wait, think about it. Ohh and I kept asking this lady questions, she didnt like me to well. The puppy had NOT been vet checked. then she tells us that she has a 7 yr old yorkie who has not been able to give her puppies and the woman says" I THINK I WILL JUST HAVE HER PUT DOWN!) as soon as she said it, she knew she messed up and hurried and took it back! WHY? why why why are people like this allowed to have dogs???? So the phone rings while were at the ladies house and it's someone "supposedly" calling about her puppies. Get's off the phone and says "yeah, someone is coming tomorrow to look at her" of course someone is coming tomorrow to look at her! So she buys her. are you ready for this??? $350 8 weeks old says she was weined at 4 weeks old! (my mouth dropped to the ground when I heard this, she says the mom stopped on her own, yeah right!) says she is 1.5 #'s (she's not) has a green discharge in corner of eyes. but she STILL bought her! Her words were, I have to save her from this place. OMG! guess where she is now? Yup, in the vet, took her last night cause she was lifeless. So guess who is taking care of her tomorrow cause she (my friend) is not going to be home? YUP, me! WHY WON'T PEOPLE LISTEN WHEN YOU TRY TO TELL THEM SOMETHING?:( |
Unfortunately they have to learn on their own. I hope your friend dosen't have to learn the hard way. Hope that pup will be ok. You tried, can't expect anymore from yourself. |
Omg I had a similar thing happen to me. The place reaked of urine, not sure if it was just animal if you get my drift. Then the lady had tons of dogs, all shapes and sizes. I asked about the diet the pup was on, "Anything is fine...I think his first meal was spaghetti!!!! WHAT!!!! I too had to "rescue this pup. These people should be stopped. It's all about the money Thank God Aiden is fine. He had shots, and has always been active. I know that it was meant to be because I wasn't looking to buy a puppy, just heard that a girl baught one and could'nt keep him , per her landlord :(so I rescued him...TRULY RESCUED HIM!!!!! |
You did what you could, all you can do is try and educate!! Hopefully your friend has a lot of money saved up for this pups medical care, because unfortunately she will probably need it!! Years ago my husband and I "rescued" a flea market pup for $450 and he ended up with coccidia and giardia and a $2800 vet bill in the next 3 months!! We could have bought a really nice dog for that price!! We love our Booboo and he has been healthy as a horse since then but we learned a valuable lesson and hopefully your friend will too!! |
Gosh, these stories are so sad. It breaks my heart to think people really keep their dogs in those conditions. I hope your friends puppy makes it. Please keep us posted. |
I would report her to your SPCA at once. Another bust going to happen~ Hope the pup is doing well. |
Well I hope when all is said and done her new pup is okay. Why did she bother to ask you to go if she was not going to listen to what you had to say. I really hope everything turns out well though! to you for trying to do the right thing even if your friend did not want to listen! |
OH I hope the puppy is ok! That is really sad! I wish she listened to you!!! UGH :( :( |
Oh this is so sad. I hope the pup pulls through. It sounds like your friends only fault is she has a big heart and wanted to rescue the pup. Sometimes it is just best to walk away but it is very hard to do |
I hope the puppy will be fine. It's so sad when people use animals for financial gain. They didn't ask to be born into that life. They should be loved and cared for. |

I came home from that house and 1st thing I did was wash my hands cause I just felt dirty. Then I hugged all my babies and just cried. I'm so lucky to have such wonderful yorkies who are healthy and HAPPY! and SO spoiled, who does not have to live in cages and dirty bedding. It makes me so sick to think about all the unwated doggies out there that is living in these kind of situations. I got on the rescue site for Indiana and was looking at all the babies, she could have saved one from a rescue. I just cried and cried looking at these babies who were puppy mill babies. I wish I could understand all this cruelty and why they are letting it happen. I did call my friend who is in charge of our animal shelter, just waiting to hear back from her. |
Poor babies. I am sad for all of them. I try to educate my family and friends also but they are just looking to make impulse decisions instead of researching or listening to someone who has done the research. |
How awful. I bet that was very frustrating that you couldn't stop her. I really do hope she gets reported. The Human Society will investigate, contact the police and arrest her. In a perfect world. |
That's aweful. Why do people buy from places like that?? Be careful having that puppy around your dogs. Kibble is still young, and isn't Baby pregnant right now? I would just hate to see this puppy pass something along to your dogs. I would keep them seperate until the puppy is older, vaccinated, and healthy. |
