Help! my pregnant girl can't stop puking!
 
my yorkie is about 6 weeks pregnant now, and at about 4:30 this morning she started puking, and now she can't stop. she's actually puked about 15 times in a half hour, and has thrown up so much that she literally has nothing left in her little tummy... anybody know what i can do to sooth her tummy??? i feel SO bad for her...

I'm not a breeder so I cannot offer any advice. The only thing I can suggest is to call your Vet as soon as they open or perhaps an emergency Vet in your area. Hopefully someone else will be more help to you. Best of luck.

I am a breeder and you can give her pepto but if my girl were vomiting like that I would take her to the vet. Could be a separated placenta.

I agree with Dee, I would take her to the vets to be checked out. Please keep us posted on how she is doing. For occasional vomiting episodes I give mine a little Karo syrup and water and a little Nutri-cal until the stomach settles, I have also used Pepto before.

she stopped about 5 minutes after i posted this thread, but i did give her some microhydren and it seemed to settle her stomach. i'm actually starting to think it was some canned puppy food i have her, cause she's perfectly fine today. i will most definately be bringing back that puppy food, cause i am not giving her any more of it, i don't want her to get sick again, poor little thing. :(

I agree with Dee and bjh. Even though she has stopped vomiting, I would still take her to the vet. If it were one of my gals, I would want my vet to check her out to make sure that there wasn't some underlaying problem other than "morning sickness". I would also be very concerned about dehydration.

how will the vet be able to tell if something is wrong? she's been drinking and eating well, she's very energetic and happy like she always is. i did call the vet and he told me that if she pukes again to bring her in, otherwise there's not much they can do :confused: our vets out here i think are kinda loopy...

I would request that my vet do blood work -- which can detect any number of potential problems. I would always rather err on the side of caution and have an extra vet bill than wait until I have a serious problem on my hands.

My Chattie had a pre-delivery hypocalcemic episode which was pretty scary. She did not vomit, but the moment I determined that "something wasn't right" off to the vet we went.

Since she is pregnant I would have the blood work done if I were you.
