Read YTCA site and AKC site. A breed should be kept to its standard. If not, then it's NOTHING. The Yorkshire Terrier has no hope ! How do we keep our pure breds if everyone is breeding against the standard? WE NEED TO SAVE THE YORKSHIRE TERRIER BREED. There are tooooooooo many poor bred yorkies out there and we need to stop it!! Think about it. If you are a true Yorkie lover, you would want everyone to do the right thing and save the breed and not breed just to do it. You have not been long here enough to see what people have asked here but I will tell you...........most ask ...is my yorkie a pure bred??? |

As for your comment about people wanting a "true" yorkshire terrier and "the poor breeding practices of people breeding off colored yorkies, that wind up not looking like yorkies," ... that's not always the case. I don't believe I've seen anyone asking if their off colored yorkie was a mix. On the other hand, I have seen numerous people asking if their blue and tan yorkie may not be a pure bred. Just because a yorkie is an off color like Chocolate, Parti, Black and Tan or sooty, that does not mean that the breeder has poor breeding practices and that their pups will not look like a yorkie when grown. There are ugly, correct colored yorkies and there are beautiful, off colored yorkies. The genes for off colors have been showing up since the breeds beginning and I don't think they'll be going away anytime in the future. :) To the OP, congrats on your friends litter and I look forward to seeing photos of the pups as they grow! |
To the OP, you did a fantastic job helping your friend. Congratulations on the litter. Looks like they are doing well!! I went to bed early last night but am so glad Barbara was on here to help you. We have a great bunch here. Make sure you post pictures of these adorable babies as they grow.:) |

PLEASE dont just assume that when a chocolate pups pic is shown on here or when someone even mentions the word chocolate that the person needs a lesson....9 times out of 10 they already know... also its not my yorkie...its my friends...shes been breeding for YEARS...knows they are purebred...she bred the grandparents and parents..anyone knows that 2 recessive genes can bring out the chocolate color.... Please take my words and remember them... |

What a hanful of puppies. All but 1 are chocolate right? Your friend will be very busy in a few weeks when they all start walking around eating and pooping.LOL |
WOW!!! Seven, that is a big litter. How big is the mother? If she's small she might need help feeding tha6t many. I got a litter of 4 yesterday, one was still born. He was very small. |
mom was 6 pounds before breeding. The pups will still probably still have to be bottle fed anyway...they all seem to be fighting for the same nipples... |
