ACA registration questions I've been trying to do some research on puppy mills and trying to find out where some of the pet stores get their puppies. There is a pet store near me selling yorkie, shih tzu, and chi puppies for prices between $375-$895, but I notice the registration is ACA. Can someone help me understand the difference in ACA and AKC and why someone would register under ACA vs. AKC? Thanks in advance!:) |
AKC would be the best in my opinion for American registered dogs. I don't know the history on ACA, but someone told me it spung into being when AKC started requiring DNA on Male stud dogs after so many litters. In my opinion AKC would be the way to go especially if you want to breed or show. |
The AKC is the only registry that does inspections, and many breeders had to leave it because they didn't pass. So they came up with the ACA, which has know links to puppy mills, and in my opinion is worthless. Please don't buy your pet from a petstore, no quality breeder sells to petstore, they are supplied by puppy mills.
