help!! I have a new puppy & the mom has not cut the cord, what do I do?

She is the first pup, & Mom is pushing on her 2nd!

If you have something like floss or something to tie it off, then cut cord on the mom's side

She had 3, 2 she cut/ate. The 3rd puppy is out, but the placenta is still in the vaginal canal. she has not yet cut it, and she is not having anymore contractions. It's been about 30 minutes so far, and nothing else is happening.

This is her 1st litter. Can I pull it by the cord? She is not taking calcium, water or anything else. But she is doing great otherwise! All 3 puppies are latched on.

Any advise please?

No unfortunately not! It went back up. I tried everything to get it out! I'm scared of hurting her too. But there is no part of it to grab on to. I tried and tried! This is why I asked my vet for the oxcytocin, for this exact situation.

They open at 9, so I'm going to take her then. Do you think that it will be too late, or that I shouldn't wait? She seems happy, no fever either.

Not sure.

Btw, she had 2 boys & 1 girl. All are doing great! The little girl is a bit on the small size, but doing well and nursing. Mom hasn't left their sides for even a second!

Gigi had 2 girls last night, actually 12:30 AM this morning via c-section. S

he started having labor yesterday around 5:30 and had the bubby at 8:35 and stopped labor. So by 9:30 we were at the emergency vets. Ugh! He said not to do anything and to just wait that she should have them soon. He took x-rays and said she looked fine - cost 244.00. He then said to call my regular vet - whom I could not get a hold of earlier, so as we were driving home I did get a hold of my regular vet and he said to bring her in. So now we had to change course and go 30 minutes south. It seems like all the vets around here are just wanting to use the emergency vets now for after hours, but luckily I was able to bring her in to my regular vet now. So here we go. We got there and he looked at here. He did not like that she was trying at 8:30 and thne stopped, so he did in internal aginal check and off we went to do a c-section. Good thing too! When he got in there - the smaller female's head was blocking the way for the first pup. So there is no way she would have had these pups on her own. We got home about 2AM. It was tought for Gigi at first - she was shaking and having a hard time. I gave her some Karo and started the heating pad as soon as we got in the door to my house. The smaller female had a hard time getting going, but strong now. She had a hard time nursing last night, so I had to suppliment her feeding. I am exhausted. Well, it is 7:12 AM and I am going to try to get some sleep. The pups are doing good and Gigi had some water and half and half just a little while ago. So I will fix her some Mother's Nature pudding later and give to her. That should help her. I need to get some liver too - in case the little female needs it (juice). Good luck everyone else.

Tina....congratulations on your two new baby girls. I am sorry momma had such a hard time. Your are very lucky your vet cared enough to have you come on in. My prayers go out to momma and her babies that they will be just fine.

Congratulations on your new babies. I am glad they are doing well. Usually the momma will pass the placenta later. It will be fine to just take her to the vet later today.

My little runt boy died. He wouldn't gain strength no matter what we tried and Yahtzee was pushing him away. My daughter and g-daughter were bottle feeding him, but he died yesterday.

I am so sorry to hear this. My heart is breaking for you. I know how it hard it is to lose one esp. after putting in so much effort to help keep him alive.
My thoughts are with you this morning. I hope your other little ones are doing well.
