Experienced Parti Breeders please read
 
My breeder contact me to see if any of my dogs I adopted from her had black/with pink speckles on the roof of their mouths. She wanted to know this b/c she spoke with a breeder in Ca who breeds parti's stated, if they have this, they are a carrier. My breeder is checking with all of her adopted parents b/c if so, she wants to get this out of her line of breeding.

My Vinny is very white on his head and all of his chest. He does have the pink/black upper in his mouth.

Does this hold true? Is this an indicator of a parti carrier?

I don't have parti's, but I have heard that they have ticking on their bellies...never hear about the roof of their mouths though?

the parti's can have the liver color spots on the roof of the mouth and or the belly.

Why do I have the feeling there's a lot of mouth inspections going on now?? :rolleyes:

Throwing in my 2¢ - Ramsey and Reese do not have spotted mouths nor freckled tummies. Reggie the biewer has both.

LOL I looked at Lacy and Rylie's mouths...no spots. Just a solid blackish pinkish color

Autumn has no spots.
Blaze has black w/pinkish speckles on the roof of his mouth!

Thanks for your replys. I just received an email from a parti breeder. This person stated "gene affects the pigmentation of their skin it makes sense that
it would affect the color pigmentation in the mouth as well."

my girls do not have any pink on the roofs of their mouths.

This is becoming more and more interesting.......

I would interested in seeing some pictures of these carrier's mouths....wonder if this is a possibility. ??

Tammy, you have parti's, are the roofs of their mouths speckled black and pink?

Yes, but I thought you were talking about carriers. Livi's pigmentation does have the speckles, but she is a full parti color.

Actually, Livi's roof of her mouth is all pink, with a black spot right next to her gum line....so 95% pink.

If it helps...I have Biewers and all three have pink bellies with the dark spots. And all have some degree of pink and black spots on their gums and roof of the mouth.

OK so I'm not following. Are you saying that traditional colored NON carriers have black roofs? or pink ones? And that parti coloreds have both colors and carriers would also have both colors?

My traditional has a black roof. My carrier's mouth looks to be pink with black ridges.

I personally don't think that a carrier's would be any different. f that were true, the YTCA would have figured this out and added mouth color to their standards in order to weed out any carriers.

Also, they are carriers, which means they do not have the second gene that is required to over ride the dominant traditional gene.

I have 4 Parti carriers.. and all 4 have grey solid roofs of their mouths.. Their Bellies are all pink.. So I don't know what this breeder is going by, as my carriers have NO spots either belly or mouth roof.. Loretta

I have 4 Biewers at my home at the present time.. 3 have pink and black roofs of their mouths, one has a sold black roof.. I have a splitter (1/2 Yorkie, 1/2 Biewer) her's is solid Black).. I'll check my other Biewers mouths too.. interesting..

here is my question....you see all the time..."he is a parti carrier" on a puppy. how do you know? what are the indications that a traditional looking yorkie is a parti carrier? if you do not want or want parti's in your breeding, how do you really know so that you can either get them out of your breeding or add them to it?

My Biewer, Darbee also has a pink and black roof of the mouth and a pink belly with no spots.
