Ok..I Know I'm a bit OCD 1 Attachment(s) But the other thread made me want to know What kind of Puppy packages do you all make to send puppies to their new home? All my puppies go with Their own little Birth certificate. Info on what to do and not to do. And a small bag of food. They all go home with Kitty collars with the bells so hopefully they dont get stepped on :( ALL my puppies go home with an infant receiving blanket that I rub all over Mama so the new puppy hopefully can smell her and have and easier couple first days getting use to their forever home. (It makes me feel better that maybe it helps...lol) And in the winter I always buy these little sweaters from Pat Catans that you dress little Teddy Bears in to help keep them warm as they go home. There only about 2.99 and the puppies are adorable in them. You have to look to find the biggest ones At Christmas time this year I sent them home with Santa hats and collars. Heres a pic of Teddy when he went home. Like I said I'm a bit OCD...LOL~! |
Wow!! I'm not a breeder but your puppy package is awesome! I wish Riley could have gotten all that when I got him. He was sent to me in a crate that held food, an icepack because it was hot, some nutrical, all his paper work and a little blue bow. The kitty collar is a GREAT idea!! It helped me tons when Riley was a baby. |
I buy inexpensive tote bags at Christmas Tree Shops, $2-$3, and put in a fleece throw blanket that's been used overnight by the puppies, a plush sqweek toy that's also been with the litter overnight, a small bag of kibble, and a book about Yorkies--my current favorite is by Carolyn Coyle. |

Thank you...I am always so excited and yet sad when a puppy leaves me. I am soooo OCD I know..but its so much fun for me I hope my puppies bring happiness to their new families. The way mine do to me :) |

I hate to think of them crying all night. I never thought of a Yorkie book...how nice! |
That's a nice puppy package. I have received their registration information, pictures beginning from birth, necessary health records from their vet visits, information on various health issues, food, small toys, nytrical, ceramic feeding bowls, and a momma/littermate smelling receiving blankets. Reggie came micro chipped so I received the information for registering him too. Reggie also had his hair UP...which his sister kindly undid for him. Now let me tell you one receiving blanket story...Reese came from my good friend, Mustangbee, in CA...so we decided to help him on his flight home...we'll place the blankie in the crate with him. We get to the airport for my flight ....sniff...what's that....phew ewww....walk over to clean up someone's poopy crate....and there is smeared poop all over his security blanket. No way to clean it...and folding it over didn't hide that smell. Gina and I look at each other....I remark "well so much for that idea"...and tossed it in the trash. |
Mine get all their paperwork and vaccine records, a little bag of food, a toy that has been with the puppies, a blankie, a very special surprise that I make individually for each owner, and anything else that I decide they need lol. They all have bows too...and now that I've opened my clothing site I'm considering sending them all home in a special outfit too! :D And I ask everyone if they would like me to microchip them before they go home too. I'm even keeping a little boy out of Brooke's litter until he's 6 months old so I can have him neutered before he goes home. I don't mind keeping them longer...it's an excuse for me to hold onto them...lol No, you're not the only OCD one...lol :D |

In the winter here in Ohio its COLD,,,and I love wrapping them in it for the ride home. I cant believe the people who come..and its 20 degrees out and they have NOTHING for the puppy to be wrapped in. That why I started doing it. then read online about the scent of Mama helping. |

I didnt know you had clothing...I'll have to check it out.:) |
I send thier health record, pics of birth till then.about 5-6 toys, a ice cream pail full of food.I give these little beds ( 8.00 at the dollar store )they are kinda like a doughnut, which they have been sleeping in for awhile-washed of course before they go. And a tube of nutrical Info to read on how to take care of them, health concerns etc. And a small harness for I do not like collars. And of course i call and check on them after a couple of days to make sure all is well |
I send then with registration information, pictures beginning from birth, necessary health records from the vet visits, information on any health issues, food, small toys, feeding bowls, and a teddy bear that has been with the litter since birth and a harness and leash. Then there are clothes and a carrying case. I actually got some nice ones that can be used forever not just as puppies. I also send shampoo, conditioner ( NuSalt and Relief) finger tooth brushes. I am sure there is more but off hand that's all I can think of. I also call to check up for the first few weeks. |

Ok...somebody Wayyyy more OCD then me :D |
I get the AKC puppy packet which includes a list of dangerous products and foods and information about training programs, what to do in an emergency, etc. To it I add: Signed copy of our purchase contract, the spay/neuter contract; AKC registration papers (unless I'm holding them for proof of spay/neuter); List of do's and don't's in caring for a new puppy; Humane Society's list of puppy development stages; A document my vet puts out on New Puppy Survival Tips which covers all of the major points; Copy of the parent's pedigrees; A bag of food A bag of treats A fleece blanket I always have the new owners bring me a small carrier and a harness which I have the puppy use before they go to their new homes. Do you do puppy visitations? We have a park across the street and I have them come once a week to take their puppy to play (just with them, not other dogs) in the grass and get to know them before the puppy goes to their new home. Of course that wouldn't work with owners who live farther away, but everyone seems to like it -- puppies and owners and ME! |
I send them home with the following: Registration paperwork, health warranty/contract, vet health record , Instructions for feeding . new crate (blue for boys / pink for girls) receiving blanket toy picture album ( since birth till they leave) 7.5 pound chicken soup dry food & a couple of canned food. pacifier 1 pkg puppy training pads Microchip tags pkg with paid registration. collar / harness set heartworm prevention pill 2 stainless steel bowls and tons of reminders about keeping in touch!!!! |

But she stops over with her sometimes ..I love it.wish more were closer |
With my first litter, each new mom was sent home with . ..... - a healthy puppy:D - veterinarian supplied vaccination records - small bag of puppy food they had been eating - a small toy they had been playing with - akc paperwork - copy of my contract - Yorkie puppy care information sheet - a photo sheet(s) of wallet sized pictures of the pup from birth til they left as well as a picture of Lexie and her stud. (I have since asked the same of Toby's breeder, Dee (Sugar's Mom) and Halle's breeder; for pics of them when they were born and parent's pics. Love having those for my records.) Not bad for a first-timer I didn't think. We'll see what I add with my next litter. I like the idea of a blanket with mama's scent on it. I thought about it, but didn't get around to getting it done. |

I'm so glad I'm not alone...:p And some of you are even worse (better :) ) then me...hehe |
Once again Deb, this has been really helpful. I can see other things that I might want to include in my puppy pack. Thanks ladies. |
Our puppy care package consists of: Baby blanket which has all the familiar smells on it Toys Treats Some disposable pads Some food, both hard and soft Registration papers Guarantee/Contract Copy of pedigree Vet records Food and water bowl An outfit or two A tube of nutrical I am thinking of adding a few things as well. I would like to make up a baby book for each puppy to go home with their new owner as well as alot of information for caring for their puppy. I do send the new owners lots of pictures of the puppies from birth until present through email but I would like to start putting a baby book together for them instead. |

Alright alright I can't hold it in anymore...I'm really bad at keeping surprises...lol The other thing I send home with them is this: Shutterfly | Photo Books With birth to "now" photos. Isn't it neat? I used it for one of the GEs here too and it went over really well. :) |
Great idea and easy too. |

I believe the "GE" she is referring to is the Yorkie Talk Gift Exchange. They are done quarterly and are tons of fun. You've got plenty of posts, but need to be a contributing member in order to participate. If you've never visited that section, check it out. Even if you're not participating, it's kind of fun to see who gets who and what they all get.:D The second one this year is about to start; we're just waiting to find out who our secret buddy is. |
