This is bugging me. Please Help. So I have a question that has been bugging me. I found a GREAT breeder that I love and I have no doubts about her. Well, last week I went to go pick out my puppy (at almost 5 weeks of age). I did not get to meet mommy (I did meet daddy) because a few days before my visit, the breeder lost mommy suddenly of a staff infection from the c-section. I guess mommy did not show any signs of being sick, not even a temp, until it was 2 late. Now my question is that will my puppy have any problems from loosing his mommy at 4 weeks? The puppies do interact with the other dogs (5 of them). But will he have behavioral issues? I just keep reading about how mom is important for so many things, Im just getting nervous. |
How sad about the poor momma dog. I do not think you have anything to worry about. If the puppy is getting socialization from its litter mates and from other adults then the puppy should be fine. Congratulations on getting a new baby! When will you be getting her and how old will she be? |
Very very sad--- I'm also a Mass. breeder. I don't know your breeder personally, only by her good reputation. I'm very sad about her loss. It's just one more example of the many things that can go wrong in breeding and why the good Yorkies are expensive. Don't worry about your puppy; in the care of a competent breeder she will not be adversely affected by this. Best Wishes. |
That is just so sad :( I think the puppy would be fine. As I'm sure playing with its littermates and loving from the breeder will make this a wonderful little puppy for you I wouldnt worry. But thats just so sad about the mama. |
thank you everyone. I guess I am just over reacting. I know I felt so bad for mama. It was her first litter to. Poor mama. |

I do not know when I will be getting him yet. He is going to be 6 weeks old this weekend. He will be coming home between 9-12 weeks. Probably longer though with mama not there now.:( |
