And had the 8th one at 7:30....they are a week old now.
And Tami was up all night this week

I don't know are U talking about since they've all been whelped?? Is she still trying to chew on them? Mommy that is? My Tif didn't she left them alone. So maybe someone else can help you there. Give them all kisses from me. Can't wait to see photos tomorrow of them all. Lee

I always try to keep her from doing it but.. sometimes easier said then done.

If she already chewed it off, don't let her chew more.. put the baby on her to nurse and it may preoccupy mommy

she already took the string off the cord...now she keeps trying to chew the cords

also if it is extra long, you can tie it with dental floss a little closer and that might help keep mommy away from it

also if you have some bentadine?? the red stuff they clean cuts with, you can dab a little on the cords

congrats are in order.. just found this thread.. wow that was quick for a first time and you did great with your momma..and a son to type for us all to see.. that was great... I am generally all alone in this.. hubby is never here or is in bed.. I woke him one night.. he was falling asleep so I told him to go back to bed..LOL

I will keep looking for updates on this thread to see how all of you are doing..

I also want to say a great bunch of cheerleaders and helpers you had..anne

Zoe doesn't want to let the babies nurse. She keeps licking them. Should I do anything or should I let her keep licking them?

My mamas all want to take better care of the cord then I like
NEVER have they hurt one. She is just doing whats natural to her.
No need to redo them...she will just do them again.
She not going to hurt them...she just didnt like the length YOU choose..lol

I would but I really dont know the real answer. I have always just let her be and when the babies are nursing mamma just gives up. So I am watching to see if someone else has a better answer.

Zoe is just stimulating them and helping them to go potty.. she should settle down with them soon. Are they doing ok latching on to mom?

Thanks Debbie.. Sunshine never bothered with the cords after they were cut.. so I wasn't sure if it was normal for them to keep chewing on them..

Did you check all mouths?
Mama had those babies soooooo fast.
She wants to clean them up first.
This is her way of bonding with them.

aww it sounds like zoe is going to be a great mommy! she is doing such a good job! tell mom to relax now. if you have any nutri-drops, put just a dab on the teats or on the babies tongue and they should latch right on

Its not been a good day.
But I wanted to add ~
I always check for cleft palate and check and make sure they have anal openings.
Doesnt mean there wont be trouble.
But its a good idea to do the puppy check right after birth.
