Thank you so much. This is such a help. We got a yorkie last fall and I want to get another one in the near future. Gracie is nowhere near breed standard, so I want to go to a breeder that is striving for breed standards. My daughter and I are eventually wanting to breed so I want to start with breed standards. I cannot complain about Gracie but now that I have an idea (always educating myself) about the standards I want to get a puppy/dog that will meet those. | Hi~
If you are interested in learning more, first hand, about the AKC standard I would recommend attending conformation dog shows. Keep in mind not all the exhibitors you will see at dog shows will be members in the YTCA.
I have personally found conformation dog shows to be very educational. You see the dogs entered, you see who wins and who doesn't and you may even meet a reputable breeder/handler/exhibitor in person willing to answer your questions after the competition. Dog shows are very entertaining and educational...I always have fun when I go!!:D |
