Her "light" is still on in here.. so she is logged in.. and she mentioned that hubby has a silly grin on his face.. hopefully he stayed there to help her out..

Babies all doing great. But I'm pretty sure Ruby has something wrong with one of her teats. It is a little like mastitis, but not a classic case I'm afraid. Taking her in today to see what the deal is.

Ladies, it should be standard procedure to put a computer in the whelping box with an I-cam so we could all watch and listen. I'm starting a campaign for an I-cam in every whelping box.

when we had our first litter.. Mike was reading instructions from the stack of printed out material I had gathered.. I copied and pasted what I felt was pertinent info into one document and highlighted info I thought I MIGHT need and Mike read while I helped whelp.. I was so scared.. but it really helped to have all the info right there..

I Love The Idea Of A Camera, I Have Been Thru It Twice But The Second Time Had Some Problems So Took Her To The Vet, We Saved 3 Out Of Five, All Girls, Had Her Spaded Right Then And There...but Kept All 3 Of The Babies, Going To Be A Year Old Soon Wont Breed First Heat. But I Know That I Would Love Someone There...

What a GREAT idea! Gotta make sure it is pointed in the right direction and not at my big butt! lol

Me too....talk about panic.....I was so proud of Cricket, and I felt like I just had puppies........

In regard to Ruby, take a warm wash cloth and massage the teat, get milk to expell. If normal milk is coming out, you will just need to keep doing this several times a day until it gets back to normal. If the milk isn't "chunky", discolored or smelly I'm almost sure you don't need a trip to the vet's. Let us know how she does.

Also, if the milk is normal, get a pup to suckle on that one once you have worked with it once or twice. They get that way if the pups tend to favor a few and neglect others.
