Ok so we are back from the vet.. She had 2 xrays and we were easily able to count heads...Bet ya wish I would tell you how many we counted.. Anyways, they were really busy today and the doc didn't examine her, he just said to have patience, that according to the xray, he thought any second now.. Now on to something soooo horrible.. Before I got my first Yorkie Tucker (RIP) I went to a breeders house to see her puppies... Lets just say I would not store the corpse of my worst enemy in her living room.. Well she came into the vet today while I was waiting and she had 2 females that had each had a litter and 6 puppies with her.. Well one of the mothers is almost 4 lbs and was a beautiful black and tan color... Well her name was Ms Priss Priss and she had obviously never had a bath... She was so beautiful but soooo dirty.. Well apparently after giving birth, her uterus started to flip so to save her life, the doc spayed her.. Now the woman does not want her.. I did not tell the woman that I had been at her house and saw the horrible conditions of her dogs and her home, but this dog is only 1yr old and is precious.. I want that dog away from that woman asap but I cannot afford to buy her and keep her right now.. I told the woman that if she decided to sell her, to call me.. Right now she is nursing pups so it may be a little while but if she calls me and wants to sell her for a decent price, then I want to get her and bring her home and bath her and then find her a new home.. This woman does not care who gets her dogs so if I am in charge of finding her a new home, then I can feel better knowing where she is going.. Do you guys think that is a bad idea? If I do it, is there anyone that would be interested in her? She is AKC registered and I spent an hour petting her and loving her and she is precious.. If I do it, what would be a good price? I can't spend alot, but if I know I can get it all back by selling her then I will do whatever it takes.. I do not want to make money off of her, I just want her to be safe and be somebodies baby... What do you guys think??? The woman wants me to come over and visit so I may go again to see if the conditions have changed.. Doubt it though... Oh I feel sooo bad for that poor baby.. Man I wish assault and theft weren't crimes sometimes....

This is about the 7th time I've checked in today. I hope we hear from Amanda soon. I do think the x-ray today was a good idea. It is so hard not knowing the actual breeding dates. I still feel that today is the day, via c-section or natural.

Just read all the posts and I couldn't believe that there was no pups yet! How frustrating! Be sure and just let her do her thing. They do very well on their own usually! This is so exciting!

We were posting at the same time. How wonderful to hear from you Amanda. I am glad all seems well with Kallie. Yes, I'd try and get the poor Mamma dog off of that lady too:mad:. Oh, the poor baby:(. I'm sure someone here will give her the home she deserves. This may be the best thing that could have happened to her to get her into a loving home.

Ahhh on the other baby...that's awful and yes, I'd be tempted to get her to find her a new home too.

No, don't hold them a lot the first 2 weeks. Just check them out, kiss them and give 'em back to Kallie. Don't let others touch them (your children will want to but make them wash their hands first) but don't let them touch the belly area or the face (while you are holding the pup). Just let them touch/pet the top of the head and the pup's back. Kallie may act completely different (very protective of the pups). Don't act nervous to pick them up and check them out or she will become nervous about you doing it. I always pet the Mamma and tell her what a good job she did, focusing on her and praising her then just check out the pups nonchalantly and tell her what a good Mamma she is. Keep the focus on Kallie at first. She will barely want to leave them long enough to pee for the first 3 days. She will have to pee frequently though. DON'T panic when she may still be bleeding some for a few weeks or so. You may want to pick her up while holding a towel around her bottom to take her out to pee. You'll notice after the pups are born that they will try to go back to where they came from. This is normal. Unless the Mamma is a mess, I don't bath her until the 3rd day. Oh boy, I think I may be getting carried away. Let me know if I can help with anything.:)

I have some pretty big pads available right now. They make great whelping pads.

Amanda, are the conditions in the woman's home so horrible that maybe the police/sheriff needs to get involved? My Tucker too came from a horrible home. The guy brought the dogs outside but I could see in his house and it was disgusting. Tucker was totally infested with fleas and had sores all over his little body. It broke my heart. My brother is a Deputy Sheriff and I told him about the conditions of that home. He reported it to that county's officials and they went over there and broke up this guys puppy breeding ring.

Oh I forgot. My guess is Tuesday morning at 4:15 a.m., 3 pups

And my guess is Wed 6 am 3 puppies. :) Go Kallie!!!
