Help with mating! My male and female are attempting to mate this is my males first time and he isnt hitting the "spot" every time I try to help them he is more interested in plying than mating what can I do??? |
How old is your male? Usually the first time it might take awhile for them to get the hang of it. You can sit on the floor with them and hold the female's shoulders to keep her from moving around. If the female is taller than the male then you might have to put a towel folded up behind her legs for the male to stand on. |

i had the same problem up until today. my male is a bit shorter than my female, and every time he'd try to breed her he wouldn't be able to get it right, it took some trying and god bless his heart he's a trooper :) and he finally got her today. they were tied for about 5 minutes or less. but he was so tired he was panting, i tried to take him away and just hold him for a bit to calm him down, but he wanted to keep on and he succeeded :D how long have your pair been trying for? |
They are about 5lbs pounds and today is their 2nd day trying. My male has much shorter legs than the female. |
mine too, when he was trying to breed her, he was on his tippy toes ha ha it was kinda funny to watch him trying so hard. what i would suggest doing is maybe trying to hold the female and like posted earlier put a towel behind her for your male to stand on. i know it's harder than it sounds because i couldn't get my male to want to breed her when i was holding her either. but it took a couple of days also for him to be able to finally get it right. if it's his first time breeding that could also be why. good luck, hope he pulls through for ya :) |
ohhhhhh the challenges that i will soon be facing! |
He'll get it soon enough. Did you already say how old he is? Sorry, no memory here |
They are both 2 years of age. |
