Help Now Please My littlest baby is lathargic. How much nutri-cal? What else can I do right now before we head to vets. Help Please! |
About the size of a pea should be enough. Really, I would get to the vet ASAP though. You can't be too careful! |
I would some Karo wiped on his tongue and make sure the baby is warm...you can put him/her in your shirt against your chest to help keep him warm while you head to the vet! |
I gave her nutri-cal. Do I still need to give karo? |
Baby is wrapped in a baby blanket to keep warm. |

Check her gums to see if they are pink or are they greyish in color? Give them a minute when you pull her lips up to allow the color to show. If they do not have a nice pink color give her a lil Kayro it will get in her system faster than the nutri cal. Let us know what the vets say Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |
Ok I'm back from the vet. This little girl is 8 wks old and weights 13 1/2 oz. Her sister weights l lb. 5 oz. Both she and her sister were scheduled for their first shots today. The vet thought it best for the little one to wait for shots, not because of weight but because of the hypoglycemic epsoide. This is the first one she has ever had. I honestly thought she was gone. I never want to go thru that again. The nutri-cal and karo is what pulled her thru. Once she was strong enough I let her nurse and she seemed to regain strength. The vet suggested weaning the bigger of the two and letting the little one have all the milk. Again you guys are great and thank you for the suggestions. |
so glad you caught your little one in time...I would get some nutridrops (you can buy them and have them over nited from Revivalpet.com give them just before bedtime and first thing in the morning... besides letting her continue to nurse feed her 3 to 4 times a day baby rice ceral, goats milk and wet puppy food all mixed together, that should help to fatten them up...also put a teaspoon of karo in the drinking water on a regular basis, that way youve covered all basis and should never happen again. Have the kids been wormed? if not I would also take a stool sample in to be checked sometimes they can weaken the system and cause hypoglociema. I would suggest hold off vaccinating for 2 weeks as well ask the vet for 1/2 shots. keep us updated |
