who keeps oxygen on hand? last time I had extra tiny newborns that needed an incubator I put in a line from my portable oxygen condenser. This was only s 30% concentration, but these babies needed all the help they could get. I'd like to hear from others who've tried to oxygen enrich the air for their weak babies. |
I had my Dad's available. But have not had to use it. I've heard very good things about it and really, it would be nice to have just in case. With the thread about Myra Savant Harris' book and DVD- she teaches how to make an incubator which is pretty easy. She suggests keeping oxygen (I think some people get them from welding supply places) My neighbor once had a handheld oxygen thing lol. Not a portable unit, but handheld for puppies. I've seen a picture of it in a popular whelping site. I'd be interested in getting that but haven't seen any. I'll have to find that site. |
This was the one I saw but it probably hooks up to a bigger tank I'm sure. It's at the top and middle of the page. http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/whelping.html This site recommends between 30% and 40%. http://lowchensaustralia.com/breeding/whelping.htm |
Thanks Susan123, I too your advice on the other thread and ordered those books too. I will pursue this oxygen idea too. |
I'm glad the oxygen helped your puppies. I've been searching since seeing your post for what's out there for myself (puppies), it's good to have in an arsenal. |
