another question We saw a yorkie today. We are concerned they may be silkies?. Can a breeder register the puppies as yorkies if they are really silkies? We have no idea how to tell. This mom just seems long for a yorkie. and the 11 week old pups were around 3 lbs. Is that normal? |
No, Yorkies cant be registered as silkies. These are two different breeds. They are more than likely poorly bred Yorkies of not great quality. I have seen plenty of these over the years. Long noses, long bodies, coat that does not attain great length or texture/color that is wrong, etc. Of course, the breeders could be falsifying the papers somehow. You cant be too sure nowadays. |
If you are looking for a nice Yorkie that is a good representation of the breed, I would contact some of the breeders on YTCA.org. |
well the puppies had excellent coat and things like that. The mom just seemed like her body was long. I am comparing her to my old yorkie who was shorter and was only 4 lbs full grown. I just want to make sure. |

okay so mom's are usually longer? we had a male as a pet and he wasn't long at all. I am just checking. I just want to make sure. But then there was a yorkie there that I swear was 20 lbs. |
They can come in different "shapes and sizes" . If you don't like the look of the mom, I would definitely pass on her puppies. |
