Is there anyway to find out how much a yorkie will weigh when older based on their 2 week old weight?

Absolutely not. So much goes into factoring what they will weigh. Some people find that the weight chart works for their dogs, others do not. It depends on the lines. Then you get the throwbacks, etc.

mine are coming in at 3and 4 lbs on the growth chart based on their birth weight and what they now BUT as the other poster said, it is next to impossible to tell because so many things go into determing the weight. I used to alwayss get a good estimation at eight weeks but now I like to weight till about twelve weeks. by that time, they have settled down into what will be their normal eating routine.

when do they reach their full weight? I am asking this because I went to see some puppies at a woman's house. She had one yorkie that had to be 20 lbs. the mom of the babies was 5.5 she said, but was long. The babies were 8 ounces at two weeks. We just are afraid it will be a huge dog, and we want a smaller one.

Also now I am worried it may be a silky, how can you tell?

There's just no way to tell...even at 8 weeks the weight isn't always accurate. I have three examples for you...

A) Chloe, my sister's dog, was 2.2 lbs at 6 weeks. Her weight chart showed her being 7 or 8 lbs full grown. At 12 weeks she was 3 lbs. At 16 weeks she was 3.5 lbs. At 6 months she was 4 lbs. And full grown she ended up being 5.5 lbs. A WHOLE different ballpark than 7 or 8. She wasn't underfed. She's very healthy...just stopped growing earlier.

B) Faith was on the growth chart at 5-6 lbs full grown when she was 8 weeks old. By 12 weeks she hadn't grown AT ALL since 8 weeks, neither had any of her brothers or sisters. She's now 2.5 lbs at 7 months, she'll MAYBE hit 3 lbs full grown. Her brothers and sisters are around the same. Again, they weren't malnourished...just hit their growth spurts early.

C) Sophie was predicted to be 5 lbs according to her growth chart at 12 weeks. By 4 months she was 3 lbs. Then from 4 months to 11 months (now) she only gained 1/2 a lb. She MAY make it to 3 3/4 lbs or possibly 4 full grown.

So there's really no way of knowing for sure...:p

you are *worried* that it may be a silky? Can I ask why? Do you mean hair texture or breed of dog?

You can't really tell until they are a little older...at least that is my understanding..can someone confirm or deny that?

Quite honestly, if you have a certain size/weight in mind or even a look then you are far better getting an older puppy - close to a year old. At a year old they have finished up (pretty much) their growing and their temperment and look are already in place. When you buy a puppy there is NO WAY of knowing how big he or she will get and the charts are estimates based on MOST but not all. I have five and Lilly is the only one that was true to the chart. At 13 weeks she weighed 2 lbs. and now at 10 months she is 4 lbs. Now, Jersey is a year old and she weighs 5.5 lbs. yet she should have stayed around 3.5. Also parents, don't go by what they look like either because unless you know the lines and sizes etc. your 5 lbs. female 2 lbs male could produce a teapot. It happens. We got Tia at almost a year old and she was 3.5 lbs. and is now 4.5 pounds. We fell completely in love with her when we first saw her. She had already had her long hair, temperment was excellent (very sweet) and the plus was she was already pee pad trained. Think about an older pup close to a year then you'll know exactly what you are getting. It's really the only way for a sure thing.

I'd be hesitant to deal with a breeder who is showing her pups at 2 weeks of age as she's putting them at risk. There is no reason to expose a 2 week old pup to the danger of infection because the only thing you can really tell when they are 2 weeks old is whether they are male or female. In Connor's line the males don't finish filling out until they are about 18 months old but the gals stop by about 7 - 9 months. Weight and size will always be a guessing game in dogs just like it is in people, how many kids grow up to be the exact same size as their parents?

No she had puppies to show that were 11 weeks. We wanted to see them and see the babies. We didn't go near the babies
