Old Age??? What is the typical age to stop breeding a female? |
I've heard 5 years old, but not positive. I'm sure there be others along soon that will tell you for sure. |
5 years old |
early in the 6th year is the latest I would ever breed a female...and that would depend on the number of litters she had and any complications, etc. |
Akc AKC says 10.....can you believe that? If all goes well and the bitch is in tip top shape I have bred until 7 if she was breed on a 12 to 18 month schedule...I recall breeding two girls at 7. Most are fine until 5 to 6 yrs. I take it litter by litter and most of mine do not have a first litter until 18 to 2 yrs, so they have not had that many litters by 5 or 6.. |

10???? Thats horrible~! I didnt know that...wow |
There is a seminar floating around in the last couple of years that says to breed them every time and they will stop themselves when they are ready. i just could not do that. My girls are done at five years. |
when i got my first 2 puppies, my breeder told me that is is healthier to breed every time, i guess she went to this seminar:animal-pa Quote:

why is she considered a troll? Those are her views. You have different ones. She is new and other than trying to help her to see your opinion and seeing how it may be the right one, you call her names. Admin has been talking about enforcing the rules, so I guess they really should and actual punish the people that keep putting people down and calling them names. Even if they are breeders. Plus she was just giving her opinion that had nothing to do with the other thread. I don't share her views but I wouldn't put her down because of it. |
