Reverse Sissor Bite??? I was wondering if any one had ever heard of a "reverse" scissor bite? I have looked high and low and can't seem to find a description or a picture. Any one familiar with what is meant by this??? |
Do you mean an underbite?? This is when the top teeth go behind the bottom teeth. |
That's what I was thinking. But, figured I'd get some confirmations on it. |
Or maybe when the top palet is wider than the lower and the molars don't match?? not sure |

Boy, now I'm really confused and need some clarity on this... :( |
A reverse scissor bite is just when the bottom teeth protrude in front of the top teeth (basically, yes, an underbite). It's acceptable in breeds like the Lhasa, but not acceptable for Yorkies. :p |
Thanks Little Bit! That really helps clarify things for me... |

boy was I wrong. Sorry, thats what I get for guessing, didn't mean to confuse you. |
Not sure why you're asking, but if you're wondering if it's considered a flaw in a Yorkie, here is what the AKC breed standard says about bite: Head Small and rather flat on top, the skull not too prominent or round, the muzzle not too long, with the bite neither undershot nor overshot and teeth sound. Either scissors bite or level bite is acceptable. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :) |
bites Bites are a recessive gene...that is why two parents with good bites can produce a puppy with a bad bite. If one parent carries the gene you will not get a bad bite, both must carry the gene... |
Rylie has a reverse scissor bite (or small underbite). Looks just like that picture above. |
