It IS SAD. People seem obsessed with size when they should be thinking about the FIT For the family (or whoever is buying a new dog). It's a LIFESTYLE DECISION .....I personally don't have tinies but Cheri is plenty small for me....anything less would be a constant worry. when you get a puppy - that puppy has to fit into the lifestyle the person is living and there are WAYYYYYYYYYYYY too many out there that have NO freakin idea how much work a yorkie can be - even a standard size one but sadder to me is all the people who have no clue about caring for a tiny tiny dog.... yet they 'want' one. Thank the unethical breeders out there throwing around the word Teacup like it's a BREED of yorkie... and then thank the people who don't know better & pay more money for that WORD - and there you have a bunch of thanked people who STILL think a 'TEACUP' would be a cool dog to have. (I won't even mention the breeders who breed tinies intentionally) and yes they ARE out there. Which is WHY there are so many sick little yorkies :(:(:( It's now a fad to have one and that just SUCKS for the breed in general. |

Yes, I call it Yorkierexia - having an unrealistic and unhealthy vision of a Yorkshire Terrier. |
I have a little girl a little over 3 1/2 lbs and people just fawn over her. Like she is a doll or something. They always are asking me if I am going to breed her and I always say the same thing....NO.. she is too tiny and too precious to me. A couple people have told me the their friends have yorkies but they are SO BIG compared to her. I always tell them I was told that she was going to be bigger but she just never got any bigger. She was suppose to be about 5 or 6 lbs but just didnt happen. I have two young children and even though she is a GREAT fit into our family, I still worry about her constantly. |
