Ciara puppies
 

Well we have 2 healthy male puppies so far and 3 more puppies to go. I hope I get SOME girls.

Another boy! That's number 3. 2 more puppies to go.

I'm glad there's been less than an hour between them, but I have a feeling the last 2 are going to take a little longer.

Congrats!!!! You do know that we all want to see pictures!!!! I hope the little momma and the babies are doing ok.

Number 4 is a girl. Finally!!!

I will post pictures of the little family as soon as all have arrived.

Congratulations on your four so far.......glad to see that you got one little girl at least; maybe a second????? Sounds like things are going smoothly and fairly quickley.......good job Ciara!

I feel so guilty. It was so long after the 4th puppy that I fell asleep next to the box waiting for the last one. I woke up to Ciara licking and I looked and she'd had the the puppy but it was limp. I picked the baby up. I thought she was dead, but I suctioned and shook her down and breathed in her mouth and nose, anyway. She never cried. I was ready to give up when I saw her jaw move. I stuck my finger in her mouth and she closed her jaw on it a little and I could feel her tongue working; like she was trying to suck. I put a drop or two of NutriDrops on her tongue. Then I started over and suctioned and shook and breathed, but she never cried and she was just limp.

Several times I was sure she was dead, but she wasn't. I finally took her in to the vet, because I couldn't just let her die if there might be the slightest chance. By the time I got her there I was told she was agonal(sp) breating. I guess they do that right before they die. They took her and listened to her heart. She had a very faint heart beat so they gave her shot of epinepherine(sp), but her heart stopped anyway and there was nothing more anybody could do.

I feel so guilty. Ciara trusted me and I let her baby die.

Congrats on the wonderful litter, I am sorry to hear you lost one of the babies.

dont blame yourself, i too lost a pup, sometimes its just not meant to be. Sometimes there are problems we cannot see and it is better for the pup to go over the rainbow bridge and play with the other pups. CONGRATS on your litter and have fun with the others! its truly a blast watching them grow!

:congrats: Congratulation on your beautiful new litter. I don't want you do feel guilty for one minute. I know how hard it is staying up all night and I have been in the same situation. I have woke up to find mom under the bed with a puppy and on several occasions I have had moms deliver a couple days early completely on their own while I slept. Fortunately for me all the pups survived. Sometimes these things just happen. You have done a wonderful job caring for Ciara and Lucy. Keep up the good work.:thumbup:

I don't know if you always mark with ribbons like that but please take them off. My friend did that ith hers and 2 puppies strangled when they got caught up in mothers nails

this is very true and after a while you wont even need them because you will be able to tell them apart byt personality and markings and such

Well, I am so sorry to hear of the little one that didn't make it but please do not let guilt dwell on you. It was just not meant to be and you and Ciara have four other beautiful babies to care for. Concentrate now on them and helping them to grow into beautiful Yorkshire Terriers.

Many people use some sort of colored bands/ribbons or such to distinguish between the puppies, but I agree that there is too much left hanging that could get caught up and possibly hurt a puppy. Definitely shorten them, make sure they are not to tight, and check them often. These little ones grow so quickly and you don't want the ribbons to get to tight and choke them.

i cannot believe that i missed this!!!! congratulations on the puppies and sorry for the one that you lost. don't blame yourself. these things just happen.:hug:

Congrats on your new baby's... I am also so very sorry you lost one.. do not blame yourself.. anyone that has had to stay awake knows how hard that can be on us.. that baby is in rainbow bridge right now playing with all the other furbutts have a good time.. probably smiling down on you for trying so hard... god bless your heart..my friend just went through losing a puppy 4 days ago.. she was so devastated too..
