I think Candy is pregnant 4 Attachment(s) I really think Candy is pregnant, I will be so shocked and sad if she is not :( If she in fact is, I think only with just 1 or 2 pups. She sleep a little more now, she wants me all the time. OMG, she wake me up everyday at 5:30 am, and won't keep quiet untill I get up, calm her and her back to sleep...can't stand that...she has never done this before.... I also find her sheding a bit more?...is this normal..? She is licking herself too. I am taking Candy back to the vet tomorrow, tomorrow is her 57th day after first tie. I don't think she will deliver her puppies on the 60 or 61 one days, may be 64 to 65. I will let you know tomorrow the status...:) Jen Here are some images taken tonight :aimeeyork :animal-pa :aimeeyork :animal-pa |
When doing Xrays I have always waited until the latest possible to do them so they are more useful in seeing the size of the skulls in comparison to her pelvic area. I use it as a tool to see possible problems and a headcount is nice to know so you know if there is another puppy etc. but is seems to serve me so much better to wait it out longer. I know its so exciting to see the babies or if there are babies etc. Best of luck with your girl Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |
Ok... Candy is confirmed pregnant, but Vets said he can only see one,he also said my dates may be wrong. I am very sure of all ther tie days, there was 5 days, 1 per day. So I figured her due date would be 60 to 68 days. Well, even is only one, I got most the supplies ready, Jen :aimeeyork :animal-pa :aimeeyork :animal-pa |
Question again about Temp I was told normal temp should be 100 to 101, but Candy's were 99.70, 99.20 and 99.50 for the past 3 days. Any comments? Thank you! Jen :aimeeyork :animal-pa :aimeeyork :animal-pa |

They can whelp as early as 57 days. Usually a low temperature means they are due to whelp soon but you can't always go by their temperature. Were you able to see the xray? Were you able to see the size and position of the puppy? Often times having one puppy can be a bad situation since that puppy has all the room to grow in the womb resulting in a bigger puppy. Keep a close eye on and any signs of distress during labor. Good luck with the upcoming whelp!! |
:animal-pa She should be 58th days today, but vet said that might not be correct. She took an xtray at 44th day, and can not see anything. I am watching her closely, and she is not ready yet, no sign at all. Thanks Jen :animal-pa :aimeeyork |
She's just keeping a prewhelp temp on the low side, that's a perfectly normal range. When she drops and stays into the low 98's you'll know it's near |
Thank you! |
Keep us posted....this is always such an exciting time. We had a singleton last year. That was the one that was born in my bed in the middle of the night. Yikes! So although we were all concerned and watching and waiting because it was a single puppy -- everything went well. I hope all goes well for both of you. :) |

Yup... I fell asleep for a few minutes and awoke to a mewing sound, and there was a soaking wet puppy and mom...nothing else in the bed. Everyone was fine although we had to warm the puppy in a heating pad. I'm doubly paranoid now around the time of whelping. No sleep until the job gets done. I felt like we were lucky, lucky, lucky. :) |
how is Candy doing? |
I made my first Whelping box for Candy 3 Attachment(s) Today is Candy's 60th day after 1st tied, but I don't think she is ready yet. She is still playfull, eat well, walking all around. Her temp has been steady for the past 3 days. 99.7, 99.5, 99.5. I completed the whelping box for her and I think she likes it. Not a really big one, but I think is good enough for just 1 puppy. She sure does look like she likes her box.....hopefully it wont be long....and who knows you may have a little stow away in there.....so maybe 2......good luck and keep me posted...... |
Awww... she looks so sweet. Keep us informed. Best wishes. |
