If it werent for these wonderful breeders, research on LS would never have gotten started. I know the mills and byb's wouldnt foot the bill for this! They would just keep on breeding and not caring what they are producing. It seems to me that LS is in most of the bloodlines and not just one or two. So why are the show breeders pedigrees more previlent (it seems) to have LS? Because they are almost the only ones doing the testing and research. Its not the byb and mill pedigrees being tested. JMO | Yes, there are some GREAT show breeders out there being honest. Absolutely I agree with you. There are a few show breeders who are not being honest and not being nice about this and it buries the problem and hurts GOOD show breeders because they may be buying puppies to breed and not knowing the whole truth. Just like anything...a few bad apples can ruin a bunch of good apples. My only point is to say...just because you spend $1000, $2,000, $3,000 on a dog and he has TOP champions doesn't mean he can't get LS. You have to bile acid test before using him to see if he does or doesn't. Either the breeder is not a good breeder and is so worried aobut winning he/she isn't being honest OR the breeder IS a good breeder and it CAN happen to anyone. I met a show breeder who bought a dog from a very well known show breeder and was going to use a stud dog from this well known one...tested the dog...woudln't you believe his bile acids came back very high?? Many other breeders had used him for stud already (from my understanding of the story)
She returned the stud dog saying she could use him and why. |
