Need a huge ? answered by breeders I was just asked a question.. and I do not have the answer.. I need all your help... I was told today that a girl intended to her male to her female.. but now found out that her male's sire is the females great gand sire.. I do not get into line breeding or in breeding.. I just make sure prior to. so please do not shoot me here.. I just need an answer.. I would not breed these two dogs.. but would like to hear from you good breeders to see if I am right in how I feel.. I want this to be answered and a learning for me and to be able to tell this person whether I was right or wrong on this.. Not to get a drama thread started.. if you can help me on this, I would so appreciate it.. thanks all... |
This is line breeding and not inbreeding. I have line bred my dogs before. Nothing wrong with it. That is one way to develop your own line. Frankie and kandy's Grandsire is Ceeby's great Grandsire. |
pedigree Giving an opinion is not possible for me unless I saw the entire pedigree... |
This linebreeding could turn out good or bad, depending on what faults are in the bloodline that is being doubled up. |
It really would depend on whether the dog in question is worth doubling up. Is he prepotent for some incredible qualities? What are his faults? What is the goal in linebreeding? We don't just throw dogs together we have a plan, a goal. So what is the plan and is this the best way to acheive it? |
breeding As mentioned above...that is why you would need to see the pedigree and know the dogs involved. |
Thanks for all your replies.. I do not know what the OP's intentions are.. but I was asked this question and since I do not know or plan to linebreeding or inbreeding so needed to ask you more experienced people with this.. So thanks for all your replies.. |
breeding It is imperative to select a superior dog in the pedigree (if the breeder is going to do this.)..selecting a less then superior dog who just happens to be of the same breeding is really a bit foolish...most often you would not improve, but wind up with poorer quality puppies. |
