Sounds like someone you wouldn't have wanted to sell your puppy too anyways...Good for you that you stuck up for your babies!! |
That would be a puppy buyer that only looks at a dog as property....sad. |

She should be happy you said that. The breeder I bought Pao from didn't even bother to call or email. I was the one who sent him pictures and update from time to time for a few times and he didn't seem to care. I typed paragraphs and he responded with one sentence. It just dissapoints me thought he'd care a little more of how he is doing in his new home. Good thing I got him out of there! |
Wow, you did your puppy a real favor! Talk about a red flag... Sounds like a "just a dog" type of family. When you purchase a puppy, you should be getting the breeder right along with it! :D |
I tell my buyers that they inherit me as part of their family if they buy a puppy from me. I ask for once a month pictures and weights on all puppies until they are a year old. And then every 6 months after. I have baby-sat my prior puppies and have made some wonderful new family members/friends. If they don't want that kind of connection, I move on to a differnet buyer. |

I would never buy a Yorkie from a breeder who didn't insist that I stay in touch!! Ava has always been available for any questions about Toto whether it's health, behavior, grooming or whatever trivial questions I have! Good job!! Stick to your guns!! :p |
I'm concerned about one of my puppies that went to a new home just before Christmas. I have emailed the new parents of Ricky 2 or 3 times to ask about him with no response. I'm assuming that he is healthy, as they have not tried to collect on the health guarantee, but if they had a problem and rehomed him or gave him to a shelter, I'm going to be ticked if I ever find out. It said in the contract that they had to give me the chance to decide if I wanted him back and they definitely were not to send him to any kind of shelter or to anyone who dealt in the sale of dogs. The people seemed very nice. Do you think I'm crazy to worry? One I have gotten updates from and one I see quite frequently as he only lives a short distance from here. Tootsie, though, went to a home where they don't have internet and I have to give them a call I guess. Do you think I could put it in the contract from now on that the new owners are required to keep me updated? |
I find it absolutely imperative as a breeder to keep in touch and have always made myself available to my puppies families no matter what. I have made many lifelong friends with my puppies new families. It is imperative to know how the puppies mature and their health for any future breeding issues. Sometimes if you tell the new families why you keep in touch they are a little more receptive. I tell my families I need to know of any health issues, their weight gain for my own records, etc. etc. It only makes my breeding program better and helps me to decide on future breedings. If they don't like the contact then they don't get a puppy, plain and simple! No loss on my part! You did the right thing! And as someone else stated they are probably just "dog people". All my puppies are my grandchildren as far as I am concerned! |
I agree with you. I'm glad you take an interest in your puppies. Gabby's other "mom" hears about her all the time;) |
I know I still gets pics of my babies. I care about them ever after they're gone, So I know where you're coming from. The people I get the most pics from are 2 gays guys. They are both so cute. The puppy is just like their baby for real. This puppy has been so pampered. I love it... You just offered...whatever.....Rrrrrrrr Oh and I meant to say about your other post. I would have cut her kids hair... And said hows THAT feel?!?!?!? Takes a lot of nerve if you ask me!!!!! |
