Horrible!!! My mom has been wanting a small breed house pet to love and spoil. She was looking through a local classified paper and came upon a Bichon Frise 4 years old $100. So she called them and they wanted to meet up with her at a local Hardees. My mom was fine with it they had to drive 3 hours just to get to the Hardees so she was fine not going all the way out. So my mom looked her over and appeared to healthy except for the awful matting and really dirty. My mom was okay with the matting she knew that the groomer could take care of that! The lady said this was her sister's dog and she had been put in the nursing home so they had to put her outside because there was noone there to take her out to use the bathroom. She also said they couldn't find her registration papers because her sister had them and she didn't know were they were. My mom was okay with that also because she just wanted to spoil and love her. So anyways my mom got her home and put her in the floor to sniff around and she started running into walls and the heater and fell down the stairs(3 steps). So she is blind!! My mom is so devasted for the dog!!!! She was really upset at the owner, but she felt so sorry for her!!! And get this! She just had puppies!!! Can you believe they would breed that poor baby. She has a vet visit today @ 3:00. I will post back and let you guys know how she is. I know this isn't about a yorkie but I post here all the time and I had to share. |
Aw! That poor dog. Yes, it is horrible. I can't believe they negelected to tell you that she was blind! Not to mention the fact they she was bred! I'm glad she found herself a good home, but it make take longer for her to adjust to her new surroundings. Good luck with her! |
Poor little girl, but now she has a good home and will be safe in her forever home!! |
Grr Why are people so stupid?! I hope those people get what they deserve. Poor baby I hope everything works out let us know what happens. GL |
How can people be so cruel. To breed a little blind dog, and then decieve your Mom on top of it all. Wow, pretty bad. What must that poor little dog be thinking? I sure hope your Mom will take to her and will be able to give her the nice home she deserves. Good Luck to you Janice |
Oh, that poor, poor baby!! I hope that the vet doesn't find anything else wrong [the obvious things are bad enough]. God bless your Mom for rescuing her. I'm sure noone here minds that she isn't a Yorkie, we love them all, they are all God's creation. Please update us on how she and your Mom are doing. |
That is so sad. Some people can just abuse, neglect and then get rid of their pets like that. Don't think they even think of her as a pet poor thing :( Your mom is really an angel to take this dog in and give her some love. Just being a little informative, I remember Stephen Coren said that dogs can adjust well to being blind but in the house use scents. Training can be done to differentiate bad scents and good scents, you need maybe 5-6 different scents. The bad scent can be used for just before going down the stairs so that she knows and won't fall down the stairs. Another scent can be used for her toy and bed. I even remember him using one scent for making a trail from the house to the tree in the fenced-in backyard so that she can make her way out and come back by smelling the scent.I am sorry if I say too much, I just hope it'll help your mom. Keep us updated on the baby. At least from now on, she'll have a better life. |
Thank you guys so much for letting me post that here! I just had to let you all know...loving pets it was just so devastating!! I will defintely let her know about the scents! |

Aww that poor baby, iam happy your mom came in to her life , Now she will have the life & home she deserves:) people are darn right ignorant... |
Now I've really heard it all! Prayer's coming that the vet visit goes well and there is nothing else wrong with this poor baby. Dogs really do well without site, belive it or not, so once she get's use to your Mom's house she should thrive. That poor dog, what must she have been through? I am sure your Mom and the new baby will be inseparatable in no time. Finger's crossed everything works out for them. |
Ugh! Glad it wasn't me because I would probably go over there and ring that woman's neck!!! I wonder if your mom went to the humane society after the vet results and they cite her for neglet and cruelty!!!!!:thumbdown |
I'm so glad she found her way in to your mother's life. Poor baby :( |
I am so sorry to hear about this poor girl. It breaks my heart on many levels - I used to breed Bichons - they have such wonderful temperaments. It is sad that she was bred, because I'm imaging that her blindness is hereditary. Will your mother contact those that she bought the little one from? What is her name? I'm curious about what the vet said |
