I am NOT cutting Coco's hair since i refuse to cut coco's hair prior to whelping, what do you think is the best way i should pull her hair up.... french braids down each side continuous bands down the each side pull the hair up on top of her spine i can't wrap yet:( any other suggestions???? |
We wrap them so I can not offer a suggestion other than that or banding. But no matter which method you use, I would put her in a light oil and make sure you take it down and brush it out daily to keep the tangles out...it is the tangles that are dangerous. If she is having a small litter 1-3 puppies then you might be able to just oil it and leave it down, just make sure it stays tangle free. |

also, she is having 5 |
I tryed braids once. MAJOR mistake!!! They matted up so badly that it tool me an hour to brush them out and ended up with a pile of hair. Olive oil should be fine since it won't hurt the pups if they suck on it. |
3 Attachment(s) Okay I have done this three times now and still had coat in the end. I have tried it All and the only thing that worked for me is to keep it in oil and let it hang down. Wraps, braids, pony tail fountain thing on the top of the back, everything I have tried. Oil and just let it hang staright is best. The pups always got hung up on the others - one almost choked! So just let it go long and down. Just keep a check on it daily and add more oil if needed. I just amke sure no oil goes on the tummy. And blow dry if needed so not to get her too wet. Here are photos to show it works. T. |

I wish I had the patience to leave them in full coat for whelping...haha What do you guys put on puppy coats to get out those dreadful matts? I haven't cut one piece off of Ryder or Faith's hair. Faith has such a nice coat...it's already about an inch from the floor and she's only 6 months...but she does have short legs. But god I just about pull MY hair out brushing her 2 or 3 times a day... |
thank you all. one last question..... the oil that i have is a bottle that you pour the oil into your hands. should i put in in a spray bottle and lightly mist over her hair? |
