Macie's pregnant.. I was wondering how much extra food should I give my baby girl. She bred on January 11-14th. I am not sure what day she actually conceived, but her belly is starting to get full. Should I feed her more? If so, is there a special diet for these last two weeks? |
I am not much help..I am just learning myself...but I just wanted to say Congrats! Can't wait to hear your announcement...so when is your due date? |
I free feed mine puppyfood eukanuba small breed puppy.Meaning leave:) some out all the time for her to eat. |
She should be/have been on a good high quality puppy food just as soon as you suspected that she was pregnant or even before. My vet told me to let her eat as much as she wanted....I pretty much just left the food available to her at all times. Good luck. |
also nutri-cal paste is good for her. |
Thankf for the information. I feed her yorkie eukanuba (sp?) now with occasional lean dog treats. What about after she has her puppies? Someone told me cottage cheese? |
Beware of the puppy kibble during gestation. Some contain too much calcium and you will be setting your gal up for eclampsia or a possible c-section. If the paratyroid gets lazy because it doesn't need to release stored calcium from the bones because there is an over abundance of it in her food than when her body needs calcium to give strength and intensity to a contraction there will be none available. A good quality adult food should really be sufficient to meet her needs. |
So no treats? just food? any other alternatives? |
She is due sometime between the 11-14th - I wasn't there when she hooked up with her Elvis. They just stayed a week together. Like a honeymoon we told our kids. LOL |
Congrats on your up comming babies:) Hoping everything goes well for you:) |
