My Zoey Had 8 Babies All I Can Say Is Watch Her Veryyyy Closely Zoey S Blood Sugar Dropped She Wa Animic And Her Calcium Dropped I All Most Lost Her. Im Not Trying To Scear You . She Was So Run Down She Had A Rough Time Delerving And The Vet Told Me There Was No Way She Could Put Her Under If She Needed A Section She Wouldnt Make It....but With A Lot Of Prayers And Tears She Had Them And All Babies Made It Thank God. Then 2 Weeks Into Helpin Her With Thebabies Her Blood Sugar And Calcum Dropped Again ,,,,,i Had To Take The Babies From Her And Bootle Ffed. My Vet Told Me It Would Be Best To Fix Her And Not Take Achance To Breed Her Again That She Would More Then Likely Have That Many Again |
To answer everyone's questions... No, this isnt my 1st litter, I done it before, and I know the signs of Eclampsia, I also educated my hubby and for him to keep a close eye on her. She was just over 5lbs before, dad was 2.5lbs. This is her 2nd litter and she handled the 1st one like a pro. My vet said I didnt need any other supplement other than the pettabs and what I am feeding her. (But I will be giving her 1 tab calcluim tums a day and keeping Calsorb on hand). I also will be giving the mom and the pups some Puppy Gold as well... But I am still a over-reactor when it comes to my babies. I just want to make sure I can do everything I can to make sure she can be healthy thru this. Thank you guys for all your kind words and of couse your wisdom!:aimeeyork |
Wow....congratulations and good luck on your upcoming litter. I'd say any litter of 5 and up is a pretty big litter for such small dogs. I would suppose that she is due soon if you've had an xray already....when is the big day? Please keep us posted on her progress, whelping, and of course pictures of the puppies when they arrive!:D |
since you and i are due on the same date and our mommies are the same size, did your vet say anything to you about her not going full term? my vet stated coco (5 babies) probably would not go full term. i have three that will be presented head first and two that will be bottom first. |

she is very uncomfortable and moving all over the house to find a comfortable space to lay down. she got into the whelping box but my other girl who is due Mar 15 ran her out. this will be my other little girls last litter. this will be 3 for her. she is a pro and knows the box so won't let anyone near it. tooooo funny |
