Female Yorkie In heat Info
 
My female Yorkie Lilli went into heat for the first time and she is having major gas problems! What should I do and does this have anything to do with her being in heat she has never had gas before this so I dont know what to do but this is awful:) Any suggestions will be greatly thankful!! Kristi

Being in heat should not have any effect on her having gas? Have you changed foods, or given her something different to eat lately?

I gave her some soft dog food she hasnt had that in a while. Good that whats doing it?

Hey mmyorkies do breed yorkies? If so how big is your female?And how many puppies does she usally have?

i agree, being in heat shouldn't have anything to do with gas. Give her some Pepto!!!!!!!!!

You don't sound stupid, just new! Yes this is a thread, a really old one. Go back to Breeder Talk or one of the other forums and up at the top in the left hand corner you will see Start a Thread. Click on it and you will see a form to begin your thread where you can introduce yourself or ask a question.

I feel pretty stupid but I want to know how to tell if my Maggie is inheat. How can I tell. We want to breed her but we keep checking to see if there is any blood to show she is menstrating but haven't seen any. She will be two in May.

Yorkies are pretty good at keeping themselves clean so unless you're right behind her after she urinates to wipe her at times you will miss sighting the showing of color.

A heat cycle lasts 21 days.

1. One week coming in; vuvla turns pink and swells. (7 days)
2. One week showing color. (7) days
3. One week going out. When a yorkie is breedable and will stand for a male, usually on the 10th day from showing color.

Are you aware that you will have to conduct the breeding.....hands on. Holding the female and assisting the male?

If you are inexperienced in the signs of a female heat cycle are you prepared for the care of a yorkie during gestation, whelp, caring for the dam after the whelp and raising of the litter. So, much to learn.

Have you had all the preliminary tests performed on her and the prospective stud. Bile Acids, Knees and Hips x-rayed. Heart, hearing, thyroid, kidneys and eyes tested? Blood test for STDs?
