Question for you breeders I remember when London was in heat how crazy Teddy was.. he didn't wanna eat around her, sleep, he didn't do anything but try to hump her and smell her you know what. So how do you breeders do it? That is..you breeders with both breeding male and females(unspayed and unneautered). When the females are in heat don't your males go crazy? Since you breed them do they calm down once you do, how does that work? I had SUCH a headache that time when London was in heat, i can't imagine having several females in heat and crazy males! |
LOL me either!! |
LOL..I'm going through it now. and as we speak my male is sitting on top of the recliner staring me in the eye, whinning at me because he knows I'm his ticket to "getting what he wants" :) I FULLY assist in all my breedings so my Brodie knows that to "get what he wants" I am the way he's going to get it, so he whines at me. I am the hand that feeds him, so to speak, when it comes to "that" :) I have to keep them seperated. When I AM breeding them...they do their thing and no, it doesn't help him settle down...he's ready to go again right after. Things don't quiet down for a good 3 weeks. I have a good set up where I can block off entry ways and give the males run of the upper level and keep the girls on the lower level so I don't have to completely confine someone. But yes....its quite the adventure :) |

Ohh i see. That makes sense but i can imagine it is still crazy. I tried seperating mine and still Teddy would scratch at the door till his nails bled and bark non stop. He feels no pain when he is in that state so i was just wondering how you do it. It's good though that you keep them in seperate floors, i guess that makes it easier. Thanks for clearing it up. So if you let them go at it and leave them alone they would just keep on and not get tired? I thought once they tied and finished they get it out their system. I feel for you though, 3 more weeks, you must have a lot of patience. And i do but omg Teddy drove us crazy but we live in an apt. so it is diff. |

Whats worse is if I'm NOT letting them breed...then its really hectic!!! LOL |
I've got a year old female in heat right now and of course she is off limits. I have another female that just went out of heat that just had 6 puppies not long ago.... so she was off limits. I have a couple of un fullfilled boys and its INSANE around here... It is extremely hard at times........ I'm so thankful I have a very tolerant hubby.......I would hate to add him to the mix... |
I have 2 gals in heat right now as well. One is being bred and the other is due for her rest. Connor whines alot and doens't eat much while his gals are in heat. I take him to work with me to get him away from the stress and by noon time I can get him to eat and rest a bit. I just got weight back on him from having 2 gals in heat in Dec. with no breeding, if this keeps up he'll look like a skeleton in the ring. He fell over twice while I was blow drying him so that gives you some indication of how tired the poor guy is. |

My boys whine like crazy too they know I am the one thing that stands in the way of what they want! I don't have a duel level home so I have to deal with it abit differently, but much in the same way you do. |
