Just wondering I have seen alot of wonderful breeders on YT and some not so wonderful my question is what made you decide to start breeding? I have been ask many times if i am going to breed and the answer is always no because it just scares me to death:eek: That and i am a little strange in the thinking that i don't want to see my little girl lose her virginity i know i am crazy but i feel the way about her as i do my skin kids ;) So for all you wonderful breeders out there what made you decide to start breeding? Please don't take my question in a bad way at all i am just a very curious person and was wondering what starts someone into breeding but i have a feeling i know what the number one answer will be (love of yorkies or to better the breed:) ) Hugs Mary |
I have always been an animal lover. Growing up my parents had dachsunds and we had puppies occasionally. When I married at age 20 we (my 1st husband) had Beagles so we raised a couple of litters of them (one we sold became a champion) and then we got into raising and showing St. Bernards (finished one champion). After divorcing and remarrying my wonderful current husband of 17 years, we had some friends that had Yorkies and they had a little 7 month female they wanted to sell so we decided to get her. Dixie was my first Yorkie and she is now 12 years old. After getting Dixie we just got hooked on Yorkies and added a couple more and it just seemed natural to breed them because I have always enjoyed raising puppies. To me raising Yorkies is very rewarding and it really makes me feel good when I get wonderful emails and phone calls from past puppy buyers telling me how much they love their babies. I will admit I have made a few mistakes along the way and I am still learning. I really love going to dog shows but I find showing Yorkies very challenging. I guess my ultimate dream or goal is to develop my own show line and finish my own home bred champion but I know that will take time. |

i had a grandmother and two aunts who were breeders. i grew up around it and loved every minute of it. i never really thought about it until i settled down and stopped all my traveling and being a young girl who was gone to travel at a minutes notice. i have always loved yorkies. i decided when i adopted my first yorkie (which was the poorest of the breed) that i did not want anyone else to get such a poor bred dog. off i went searching for my perfect babies. it is very very scary for me with each delivery but in the end it is all worth it. |

We bred Poms when I was a kid. I knew that when my children were grown that I wanted to breed but didn't realize that it would be yorkies until a little rescue stole my heart. Next thing I knew I had several pet yorkies than I started getting interested in showing. While expecting my first litter I attended my first show and got bitten by the show bug. I purchased my first show dog and began showing. I originally showed so that I could bring respectability to my breeding program but before I knew it I bred so that I could afford to show. Now the dream is to establish my line, finish my home raised angels, and in some small way contribute to the breed that has never failed to bring a smile to my face. |
Ok now i am starting to get tears in my eyes this is all just so wonderful i cannot thank you all enough  |
