How can I tell? I have three females that are coming into heat soon....the person I bought them from said 1 was coming into heat in march and 2 were coming into heat in April...then the next time I told her she said it backwards...so what do I look for because I'm not exactly sure which one is coming into heat when. They are going to the vet tomorrow I don't guess the vet will be able to tell me will she. |
Honestly, given the situation you are in, I wouldn't hold much truth in what the breeder you got these girls from tells you. No, the vet will probably not be able to tell you if they are about to come into heat. It's safest to assume it could happen at any moment and be prepared when it does. You need to check them frequently for signs (bleeding) and realize that it's not unheard of for there to be NO signs that they are in heat. Also, understand that these girls may love each other and get along fine but he possiblity exist that when in heat, their personalities can change in an instant and they may try to rip each other to pieces. I would seriously suggest that if they are not in heat, you speak w/ your vet about having them spayed ASAP before the opportunity for an "accidental breeding" presents itself. |
The vulva will get larger/swollen looking usually right before they come into heat, might start humping your leg or stuffed animals. If its swollen when you go to the vet they should be able to tell you that. And then of course bleeding would be the most obvious sign. Hope that helps. |
It sounds like you'd better get to studying quick!!! If I were you I would not try to breed them all at once. You have no idea how much work those little ones can be or how vicious those bitches can get towards each other and each other's pups. Get as much education as you can, start out slow and make sure that this is what you really want. I can tell you it will be the end of you ever sleeping in or going on a vacation. You have to adore it because is does consume your life. |
